Siri comes with its proper part of ups and downs, and when it comes properly to understand and execute the command, there is a lot to do. But there are still a lot of tasks that can help save time time and effort.
In addition to playing music, surfing on the web and enabling basic settings, Siri has some low-known orders that you may not know. Using your iPhone to a casting mantra to custom actions, here are 12 useful actions that digital accessories can do for you.
1
Identify a song
Examples use: “Hey Siri, what is this song?”
Do you know that Siri can identify the name of any song you played? If it seems what Shazam does, then it is good … it is because it is. Siri has been integrated with prolonged Shazam (with the release of iOS 8 since 2014, actually), but this feature often flies under the radar.
Siri can identify songs, speakers, or songs playing around you on another device, speaker, or your iPhone using its underlying Shazam app integration. After this it will give you the name of the song, with a panel that takes you to Shazam and has the option to see it on Apple Music. However, Siri is not able to identify your songs or we still singing songs.
You can use the Shazam facility directly by tapping the Shazam icon from the control center of your iPhone.
2
Set location-based reminder
Examples use: “Hey Siri, when I reach home, remind me to drink water.”
Using Siri to remind up the upcoming event, bill payment, or work is a quick command that logs a new reminder in your reminder app. For this, all you need to do is ask Siri to remind you of the task (for example, “Siri, remind me to pay your internet bill”). You can also mention the fixed date and time, as well as frequency (for example, “Siri, make a reminder to pay my utility bill on the 20th of every month at 3:00 pm”).
But you can take it one step further and create a location-based reminder, which triggers a notification when arriving at your home, work, or other saved addresses. This, like your general reminder command, can include details about time, date and frequency.
To use this command, you need to ensure that your home, work, or other important addresses are saved on your contact card. To do this, open your phone app and click on “My Card”. Click “Edit”, then tap on “Add address”. From here, add your desired address and name. In addition to saving the address, check if your location services are capable of receiving information.
3
Check traffic when you step out
Example uses: “Hey Siri, how long is the drive to (location)?”
Siri uses Apple Maps integration to immediately display directions, acts as a GPS guide, and discovers the interest locations nearby. If you want to make a quick check of traffic for your car drive before you step out, Siri can help you with your ETA, how bad the traffic is, and which mode of transport can be the best. To use Siri as your navigation assistant, make sure that you turn location services and allow apps> maps> Siri and to toggle on the required options to reach the Siri in Settings.
Siri can also help you detect your car parking site.
4
Remove all your alarms
Examples use: “Hey Siri, remove all my alarms.”
Siri can make your life, sleep and productivity smooth by managing all your alarms. You can enable new and existing alarm by ordering “Siri, Create an alarm for 1:30 am” or “Siri, smelling my alarm”. When creating alarm, you can set its frequency, snooze and label it.
But if you want to start with a clean slate, Siri can also remove your alarm. When you ask Siri to do this, you can check and confirm if you want to remove all the existing alarms, with the option of checking the alarm that you want to erase.
5
Cast Harry Potter gave a mantra to lighten things
Examples use: “Hey Siri, Lumos.”
This is my favorite Siri command that I often use to turn my flashlight quickly. It uses Canonical Harry Potter Mantra, “Lumos” (to turn its flashlight), and “NOX” (to close your flashlight). The use of these mantras seems to be more fun than asking Siri to enable or disable the flashlight. There are some other Harry Potter Mantra that you can use as a Siri command:
-
“Hey Siri, ACCIO (App Name)”: Open an app
-
“Hey Siri, Silenceo”: Mutes your media volume
Once you know to make a custom shortcut, you can use your tailor mantras using Siri, using the Harry Potter Mantras.
6
Tiger a shortcut
Example uses: “Hey Siri, break the timer.”
Using Siri in combination with the shortcut app is one of the best ways to fully use the capacity of the auxiliary, while saves itself and takes more efficient action. After creating a custom shortcut and saving on the app (a good place to start shortcut gallery is a good place if you want to get easy shortcuts), just activate the Siri and say the name of the shortcut to execute it.
Siri can ask you some follow-up questions that are necessary to take the action you can directly answer. Siri can also open other apps that are involved in shortcut action, sharpening normal functions. This is a good way to use other productivity related tasks without logging small notes, using brake timer, tracking your water intake and going to the shortcut app every time to run an action.
7
Risk
Examples use: “Hey Siri, Roll Dice.”
Whether you are in a sticky position, playing a board game with friends, or betting with someone, use Siri’s guidance with a chance. Siri can virtually roll a dice or flip a coin, the number of times you need, and you can give you the result you gave the chance. I tell Siri that between a random number, give me a random number between 1 and 10, when I need to choose something from a list. The results are always random, so you always get a proper result.
8
Pay attention to work
Examples use: “Hey Siri, don’t turn on.”
Siri can immediately take action to mute the amount of your iPhone, but if you want to extend your attention on work or study, personal auxiliary can also enable your focus mode. This will immediately silence your information and upcoming calls and distract.
To get the best from this command, I like to add multiple focus modes, which Siri can pull based on my charge. You can customize how your notifications and calls are managed to tap on settings> focus and focus mode through focus mode, which apps and people can inform you. You can also manage how your screen looks, set a schedule for the focus, and add the filter.
When Siri is asked to enable the focus mode, you may ask the assistant to disable it after a fixed time.
9
Check the flight conditions
Examples use: “Hey Siri, (flight line name) (what is the position of flight number)?”
You can track any flight situation using Siri, just ask the assistant to find out whether the flight has left or has come. Siri draws a flight tracker results that makes it easy for you to check the flight position quickly. It works best if you have a flight name and number ready to go for accurate tracking. If you have saved a boarding pass in your Apple Wallet, Siri can display your flight information on the map.
10
Update your health trackers
Examples use: “Hey Siri, log water.”
You can create custom health related actions and automation in the shortcut app to update your health data quickly. With Siri, you can record your workouts, water intake, your mood, and do much more.
Health shortcuts can be found in shortcut gallery, which you can save to start. Some shortcuts I track and update using Siri:
When you trigger the Siri command using a shortcut, you can be asked more questions (such as consumption, calories, quantities of distance), which you can say loudly or tap to log in loudly. Siri can help you see your health data (stages, calories, sleep) quickly, such as “How many steps have I gone today?” Before you start using them, make sure you have provided SIRI access to your health app and data using Settings app.
