While the iPhone has almost all clever AI apps available from the latest AI trailblazer, it lacks deep integration of AI features that are available only at the intersection of operating systems and latest hardware. This is what we have seen with the rollout of Google’s Pixel 10 lineup.
Here are seven features from AI leaders that have a huge impact if they were originally embedded at the system level in the iPhone 17.
1. Chatgate voice mode
Openai’s voice mode in chat essentially works in the way I always wanted to work on the iPhone. You just fire it and start talking to it in the natural language, and it can answer questions, draw information, and even perform some actions. But voice mode – whose name is changes to Chatgpt Voice and is rolling for free users soon – is still limited in the command that can do on your iPhone. An apple version of this feature or a partnership with Openai can allow a lot of intensive integration in calendar, email, text messages, notes, settings and other operating system functions (with apple privacy security in place). Similarly, Google already has Gemini live and provides Microsoft Copilot Voice, so the iPhone needs to be transferred more deliberately to help maintain the iPhone.
2. Pro Race Zoom of Pixel 10
I have written about the fact that I love zoom photography and this is an area where phone cameras still fall down and I regularly have to turn towards my Sony Mirrorless camera and 70-200 mm zoom lens. However, Google has recently taken a major step to fill the difference in zoom photography at Pixel 10 Pro. With your new super race zoom feature, Pixel 10 Pro will fill the missing data and automatically process a digital zoom image up to 100x to make it more useful.

It brings about many questions about creating a picture, and I still need to try on the Pixel 10 Pro about how well it works, but it sounds like worthy use of computational photography. And the only smartphone manufacturer who is going to compete with Google on computational photography is Apple.
3. Google’s Magic Q
Last year in WWDC 2024, Apple made a big talk about its personal intelligence feature, which could understand your questions and requests because it contained information about you personally stored in the Apple ecosystem from your calendar, mail, text messages and other data. In the WWDC Keenote, Apple used examples such as “pull the files shared with me last week” and a real -time warning that a meeting you are reinstroving you can struggle with giving your child a ride for a regular activity.
Of course, Apple has never sent this facility – but now Google has. In Pixel 10, Google launched Magic Q, which can save you from jumping between apps by knowing you enough to help you with information. An example was a text message provided where someone asked you what was dinner reservation, and Magic Q possibly uses information from a Gmail confirming message to keep the information in the messaging app correctly surface, and the user had to simply tap it to send a response.

4. Anthropic
One of the biggest methods, generic AI saves me time, it is using it as a research assistant. Many of the AI apps now provide a deep research feature, where you can ask an important question about the more complex theme and give AI extra time (usually 5-30 minutes) and can come back with an answer to earn the available sources and come back with clearly marked links where information came from where information came from.

I prefer to use deep research from the cloud app of anthropic because of focusing on accuracy. Similarly, the Ad Me is also the feature (launched on Pixel 9), which uses AR and AI in clever ways, allowing the photographer to be included in the group shot, essentially by mixing two photos – directed by the camera app. It is worth expecting that Apple has a computational photography chops to pull it, or the relationship with Google is related to the license of technology, especially since it is based in the Google Photo App that is already available on iOS.
6. Very comprehensive language support
One of the most advanced abilities of the large language model is translating between different languages, and we have seen that not only smart phones take advantage of it, but also smart glasses-which include Meta Ray-Ban, Solos Aircraft 3, even realities G1 and Brilliant Labs. Some of these smart glasses, with many phone apps, can now translate into dozens of languages (Google translation supports more than 100 languages).
Apple still lags behind by supporting only 20 languages in Apple translation. By exploiting LLMS power, Apple should significantly promote the number of languages supported and integrate them in Siri and other AI features, such as live translations in phone calls and text messages, and visual intelligence.
7. Surprise photo editing from google
Perhaps the biggest surprise facility in the new Pixel 10 phones is its new Interactive editing facility in Google PhotoThis allows you to describe the changes you want to make in a photo, and then AI automatically goes and does. For example, you can move it to the subject in a scene, remove dazzle or reflections, place an object in the center, change the background, add clouds to the blue sky, increase or decrease background stains, and more.

Of course, changing photos can be sensitive. On LinkedIn, Google’s product leads for computational photography noted,
I suspect that this is going to be a very popular feature, as it is easy to access and does not include advanced technical skills that you will need to edit this type of photo first.
Last word
Apple has a lot of work to catch with features that major AI companies are bringing in their iPhone app – give deep AI integration alone that Google is now bringing in major features on its pixel phone.
While the Apple delay in rolling out the intelligence features may not hurt the iPhone during the last one year, but Apple will need to close the difference to avoid the iPhone 17 to avoid feeling like a device that is one step behind. As of now, Google can make a very strong case that it has now got the smartest phone in the industry.
