After leaving Ultimate 2 updates earlier this year, 8bitdo released a new version of its Pro Controller in Pro 3 that could be a contenders for our list of best controllers.
Unlike The Ultimate 2, the pro model has symmetrical joystick layouts such as PlayStation Dualsense. The Pro 3 distinguishes from its predecessors that is a advanced drift-resistant TMR (tunnel magneto resistance) technology, including quantum tunning and pheromagnets to produce accurate levels of accuracy and reduce the rod flow.
Large focusable differences will be the Swapable ABXY button, the first such an option is available on the 8bitDO controller. Now you can move the button around to reflect a switch or Xbox layout.
Additionally, there is a 1,000 mAh rechargeable battery that 8bitdo says that the gameplay will be available for 20 hours on a full charge, but it is not removable. If the battery dies, the controller can still be used through the USB.
The Pro 3 Pro looks like 2, but has obtained some new buttons including small shoulder buttons. There will be a pair of arcade-style ball-top cap for the button as well as the joystics.
Updates come with a price increase. It was priced at $ 49.99 when Pro2 launched in 2021, but the new Pro 3S will set you back $ 69.99.
The controller comes with a charging dock with a storage niche for its 2.4GHz dongle.
The 8bitdo Pro 3 will be launched on August 12, 2025, but you can pre-order it now. It comes in three color options, which now means some “retro” console: gray (playstation), classic (game boy), and purple (gamecube).
The Pro3 is compatible with the Apple device with Android, Stemos, Nintendo Switch and Switch 2. It supports Bluetooth, USB and wireless 2.4GHz connectivity.
If you are not ready to buy a new controller for your switch or switch 2, you can also try a $ 20 8bitdo USB wireless adapter 2 that may be connected on a large scale of the list of controllers for your PC or console.
