Have you ever sought a complete list of all the books purchased on Amazon? Do you want to know which physical books are, which are Kindle e -books, and which are audio books? Do you want to give slices and dice to your Amazon Book Collection by style, purchased or author?
My wife did it. He has thousands of kindle books and perhaps many audio books. Since she was a little girl, she has been a fond Chawla reader, and her book collection, both physical and virtual, is a pride and happiness.

He is also very analytical. A few months ago – when we were saving her kindle collection to download on her computer before Amazon’s ban – she realized that she wanted to know more about her collection’s metadata. She wanted easy ways to find groups of books, and to understand what she had.

Book list downloader extension
So she took to Google and discovered a ton. His discovery brought him to the Chrome Extension page Amazon/Kindle Book List DownloaderWhich is very shocking, an Amazon Kindle Book List Downloader.
I decided to try it. Why not? I am always curious about what happens inside the Gewirtz machine.
You can install it, and it will give you a small list of your Amazon assets as a performance. But if you want to unlock the entire power of this Nifty Little Tool, then you have to pour a full six virtual George Washington. Yes, for $ 6 for unlimited uses, this is a meaningful investment. It is always good to support a new programmer.

Installing the extension asks for the general scary list of approval. My advice is to disable this thing when you are using it, and only enable it for some time that you are going to download a complete list.
Next, click on the puzzle-tukra icon on your chrome toolbar, then click on the pin to pin the downloader on your toolbar.
You will see a little icon, and when you click it, you will get a drop-down menu similar to it.
If you click on the Get Books button, you will be instructed to indicate your browser.
You can run this extension on two specific Amazon pages. If you run it on the first page shown, you will only get basic data, including ISBN/Asin, URL, Type, Original, Title and Author (s). The original seems to have been acquired where the book was acquired, but every record list “purchase” for me.

I recommend you choosing another URL, as it generates a spreadsheet with a ton and more interesting information. We will get it in a few minutes, but first let’s do the downloading process and then proceed to manipulation of data.
If you buy an extension, you would like to put your serial number in the code field. I am not fully sure why the remaining show uses “-4/tap”, but it does not affect the performance.
Make sure you are on https://www.amazon.com/yourbooksThen click on the books button. Please note that if you click again, nothing will happen. Just scroll the drop-down a little and you will see this comfortable progress indicator.
You will know that you are doing when you receive a file-down load dialogue. Tell the downloader where you want your spreadsheet, and you are with this step.
Looking at the spreadsheet
It turns out that this spreadsheet has a tonne information.
Data includes the following fields:
- ISBN/Asin: This is Amazon ID for the book.
- Add: Link to the sale page for the book.
- Acquired date: When you bought it.
- Relationsubtype: Shows that you bought it, it’s sharing it, it is part of the lending library (Koll) of the Kindle owner, and possibly more.
- RelationStype: For me, each item was listed as “owner”.
- Format: The format of the item; We will see it more later.
- Topic: Book Title.
- Page: number of pages.
- Listening length: For audio books.
- Styles: Style of item.
- sub genres: This was no data for me.
- Series status: If a book is part of a chain, which book is this series.
- series: Nominated book series.
- (First) Author: Name of the main writer.
- All writers: All writers are listed for the items.
You can see how it can be interesting. You can do a lot with Excel and its data analysis tools.
I thought of using Microsoft’s Copilot within Excel to cut it, but then I got a look at the price. I spend $ 99 per year for Microsoft 365 family for all apps and five users. But only to use AI in Excel, I have to spend $ 20 per month – an additional $ 240 per year for an additional feature. This is two and a half times the cost of the entire office suite. Sorry me, but it’s not right.

But then, there is chat. I spend $ 20 per month for a plus account, but the chatgpt offers a lot of value. To not mention my job, it includes writing about it every day.
So, let’s feed the spreadsheet to chat and see what magic it can produce.
Amazon Matadeta analysis with Chatgpt
Let’s start with a quick chat signal. When the field names are not in the top row of the spreadsheet, the chatgpt becomes very confused. You can chat to focus on the right line by calling it the first value, but I have found that if you cut any unnecessary top lines and closes the chatter with header names as the first row with header names.
And this is what I did. I then proceeded to upload an unmodified spreadsheet file instead of the modified file, confusing it. As one does. I started a new session with Chatgpt and uploaded the correct file.

I started playing with the format area. I told this, “Tab the draft field. Show me how many of each files are in. Make me a pie chart.” I got a good pie chart back, but it was a little mess.
I indicated to fix it a little, “use the label, but give me a legend to do anything for less than 2%.” This led to the result in a very working chart.
As expected, my reeds’ wholesalers are on the kindle. But I did not realize that I had many paperbacks in the form of audibook. Cold.

Next, we reach the area that I was most curious about: styles. I instructed the chatgpt, “Tabling the fields of styles. Show me how many of each file. Draw a pie chart representing the style. Use the label, but give me a legend to do anything for less than 2%.” The results were interesting.
it was No what I expected. First of all, I took an oath that I have much more science fiction than mystery or literature. But obviously, I bought a lot of secrets. Young adult slices make sense. There are many great book series such as Tom Swift and Stempank and Dirigals, which are aimed at young readers. I enjoy them.

I don’t know how to have 3.4% romance. It is possible that some books that looked interesting were in that category, my wife bought something on my account, or I downloaded it with a promotion for free in my bit-piggy phase. Who knows? Nevertheless, it is informative.
More information that I was able to tease that data with chat. He asked me, “Would you like this imagination or was carried forward by the theme or category?” My answer was yes, and I came back.
I wanted to see if Chatgate could take me a different in my book list based on the title, so I asked, “Depending on the title of books, show me a pie chart of ten most popular themes.” I got it back.

Oddly, science or science fiction does not appear at all, although science fiction is often luned into thriller or adventure categories. Time is understandable because I love the stories of time-journey.
And I am surprised by the prominence of mystery in this classification. If you combine mystery, mysteries, murder and comfortable, then we have 56% of reading secrets. But I did not know that I had many. I must have thought that my star trek books would have taken away other categories.

Finally, I asked Chatgate, “Looking at the spreadsheet, what interesting information can you do for me?” It was fun.
It is interesting that my first Amazon Book Purchase is about 1998 – about 30 years ago dates. This is also interesting, because I read my Kindle books every day, that my last purchase was about two years ago. Apparently, I am doing my work through my collection (which, in fact, is a good thing).
So there you go there: read a way to dig all of your Amazon and understand a little more about what you are in.
