While many crypto ecosystems focus on decentralization as the main principle of the web3, APTOS is seeing success with hybrid platforms that mixes the web2 and web3 technologies, usually called “web2.5”.

In an interview at the token2049 event in Dubai, Aptos’ Head of Ecosystem, Ash Pampati told Cointelegraph that the web2.5 platforms are earning “tons of revenue” within the platform Aptos. He said that consumer-focused applications, in particular, are prosperous in the network.

Web2.5 is a word that is used to describe platforms or applications that mix the centralized web 2 experiences with decentralized web3 elements.

These applications avoid full decentralization, often criticizing the web 3 vision to completely embrace.

Consumer-centric web2.5 generates revenue on platforms Aptos

Pampati told the Cointalagraph that he is one of the trends he sees within the Aptos Ecosystem, it is that the founder wants to create “great consumer experience”.

He said that APTOS network was designed to support projects with a scale almost web 2. Due to its meta origin, APTOS has a developer stack that focuses on separation of friction away from web 3.

Pampati described it as a web 2 user experience “without renouncing the web 3 principles.” He said that platforms that followed such models were successful within the ecosystem:

“We see a lot of great consumer web 2.5 platforms emerging. Therefore, which are focused on distribution and fans focused on loyalty are also producing tons of revenue because they have made great products.”

Pampati stated that the trend is mainly affected by their developer stack and what APTOS platform provides, focused on comprehensive consumer applications.

The challenge to attract next million users

While the web2.5 app addresses some user experience problems for Crypto and Web3, Pampati said that one of the challenges in space remains an onboarding of a non-crypto native for the industry.

“I think the biggest challenge is trying to predict the next catalyst, which pulls forward the next million, 10 million users in crypto. I think there is a lot of tendency to go and refuse old wars,” Pampati said that the founder often returns to concepts such as Memcoin and Non-Fangible Token (NFTS).

Nevertheless, he said, to adopt a broad mainstream, there will be a need to create something new to find the next catalyst.

Pampati stated that it remains a challenge to cooperate to the founders to “see through the corners and try not only to try to re -create”. He said that founders should be prepared for the next catalyst.
