The center of a garden in May is not more joyful than. The shelves are ready to go home with you, filled with vegetables and perennials. Everywhere the gardeners are waiting with their breath, trying to find the right day to get plants in the ground. Colored platforms are emerging as tulips, irises, peonies, and lilac filling.
What you do this month will determine how successful your summer garden is, so lease in your overalls, grab your taste and hoe, and exit. Let’s establish a summer park. I will go to maintenance functions, which you should first deal with, then you should get details on what you should do and how to do it.
First do some garden maintenance work
Your water system may have taken a hit during winter, so it is important to check each line before starting irrigation for summer. Often, I have found that I am a problem, passing the lines while digging or digging around in spring.
Ensure that the controller is standing out and working, testing each zone and moving to check each end point. You can usually hear a leak, so keep an ear out for a loud gashing or pleura while scanning the visually.
If you use a hose bib setup, look at it too. We had a hot magic on the West Coast, which means that my irrigation was more than before this year. (For plants growing in full sun, aiming for water in the morning and 1 to 2 inch water per week.)

Your installed beds can benefit from a layer of compost, which will act as a normal fertilizer, as well as form a volume in their beds if they have experienced erosion during winter. Follow manure with a layer of wet grass. At this time, spreading fertilizer and wet grass will give you an opportunity to shape each part of your garden, so take notes what areas you need to be weeding, experiencing pests, or there are plants that show that they cannot avoid winter.
Shrubs, trees and rolling
Many bushes go through the cycles blooming in the spring, such as lilac and forcethia. Once they bloom, you can return them, and in some cases, such as Lilac, it can trigger another bloom later in the season. Either in the case, it will take a decline from your list and the garden will continue to see a clock.

This is a good time to plant new woody bushes and trees – the weather is lighter and the ground should be soft due to rain. For your existing trees, make sure you feed them with a fertilizer that is suitable for them this month. Your garden center can help identify which fertilizers you have. Each of these trees will be shooting this month, and you should return them back to maintain the size of the tree and give the tree appropriately support to keep the fruit in one quantity.
Make sure you are using only clean pruners or loppers – during the outside a spray bottle with you bleach or lysole diluted bleach or lysole. Cleaning your equipment between plants ensures that you do not transmit a virus, fungus or disease among the plants.

Finally, climbing perennial vines such as Claymatis, roses, and honeyskal should come out of their sleep at this point, and you want to make sure that you are supporting them by binding them to your trailis and supporting them as they climb.

It is finally some annual insert time in the ground, providing colored platforms and all can live in summer if you believe them right.
The garden center must be filled with annual at this point of the year, including Petunis, Lobelia, Marigolds, and Begoniass. There is a slightly more tender than the annual perennial, so you want to wait until you are past the risk of cold for the plant. The annual perennials can fill an area with color in space and time between bloom, and are ideal for window boxes and planters, where it can be difficult for annual to survive in winter.
Most hanging baskets have an annual annual reason – they are also exposed to perennial or something else to avoid winter. Make sure that the beds you are planting has a slow release fertilizer like osmacot, and they regularly get water.
Perennial flower
Most people will have tulips in the bloom or the simply will be completed at this point – not to cut them after the bloom. Tulip requires your leaves to return next year, so let them make manure in place. Once the leaves turn yellow, it is okay to divide or move the bulbs. Once the tulip bloom, it is a great time for a bulb fertilizer, so they will be strong next year. If there is a danger of frost, you can also apply summer bulbs like dahlia and cans.

If you have not found new perennials in April, you can still do it, or divide the perennials present with you. The land must now be very working, and you can see which plants are ready to divide as the garden moves forward. If you want to bloom them in this summer, you would like to get this task in May. As you plant, make sure you are using slow release fertilizer in the ground where you plant.
What do you think so far?
This time of the year, be cautious in checking the center of your garden, groceries, and elsewhere, which has a “sad plant shelf” (SPS). Store will exempt these plants that do not look happy at exclusively at 50% or more, and because they are perennial, this is a deal. Planting them as someone else, and when they cannot return this year, they will do next year. Delphinium and agistach are my favorite SPS.
Your roses require a spring fertilizer and may require some shape at this point or help to attach the trailis. Look for stress or signs of insects and make sure you are treating them with proper treatment. Your garden center can help.
vegetables
On the main event! The gardeners across the country wait for the exact moment to put their tomatoes, chillies and brinjals into the ground, and this month will come that day. Here on the West Coast, this is usually Mother’s Day, but what you are really waiting for is stable overnight than 50 degrees.
If there is doubt, join a local horticulture group, as it will be the main subject of conversation at this time of the year. This means that this is the time that you start hardening the vegetables such as hardening tomatoes, chillies and eggplants as suitable.

Perennial vegetables like asparagus and artichoke should now be active. Remember to harvest daily asparagus, only to take spears that are bigger than your pinky. Once the spears become thin, the time has come for the next year to leave the plant alone. Look at your artichoke plants for ants or aphid infections, which can be sprayed, but will return without further treatment such as neem oil or nearby mesh flowers such as nastartium. Both asparagus beds and artichokes will benefit from a spring fertilizer.

By mid -May, almost all areas should plant their hot weather crops. Tomato, brinjal, and chili, but also beans, corn, cucumbers, and everything else. Your beans and corn can be given straight seeds, as watermelon, pumpkin and squash in winter and summer, but using the beginning will get you a leg for summer.
If you have applied potatoes in the spring, it is a possibility of time Shake Earth around sprouts.

Dilute your strawberry bed Run -in And dust your strawberry beds to fertilizer. Strawberry plants can either focus on their energy on the production of these runners or fruits, but are not very good in doing both. In each spring, the beds should be thinner to make better and larger fruits. You can give the runners or plant them elsewhere.
Pest control
By putting a trap and going to a regular evening hunting, reduce the snail and slug population. Now doing so, as soon as the rain ends, this summer will reduce the problems later. Now hang the pheromone mesh in your fruit trees, which will control pests in this summer and protect your fruit.
