Three years ago, WWDC in 2022, Apple showed Its vision for the next generation of carplayChupke peak showed a car with huge, rap-around display, which featured adaptable widgets, a futuristic UI and car control built-ino carplay. Frankly, it seemed just calm.
But in later years, the carplay is largely the same, in addition to more vehicles offering wireless carplays than before. I have forgotten most of the promised updates, especially given that my own car does not have an infotainment display in the first place.
But Apple surprised us this morning With its latest press release: This radical change for carplay, now called CarPlay Ultra, is finally rolling out, Today-But only for very limited audiences.
Aston Martin or Bust
CarPlay Ultra is coming in new Eston Martin vehicles today, and will roll out for existing models in the coming weeks that facilitates the company’s “infotainment system” through a software update.
This is a major boomer for any of us that is not for ourselves Correct Aston Martin. But there is a silver lining: Apple says that Hyundai, Kia and origin have all chosen in Karplay Ultra, and will also bring the facility to their cars. There is no timeline when it will happen, but hey -is better than nothing.
CarPlay Ultra vs CarPlay
The major feature that sets the carplay ultra separate from the carplay is its integration with all screens in your car. These days many cars have several displays, including one behind the steering wheel. Typically, only a specified display – or a part of that specified display – is allocated to the carplay. But with CarPlay Ultra, all screen are fair games.
What do you think so far?
So, you can take the carplay ultra elements a display behind your steering wheel. This can appear as your speedometer, tacometer and a tool of your selection, including driving assist window, Apple music, maps or tire pressure. I personally find it quite useful to portray the front and center behind my wheel, so whenever I examine my speed, I get a head-up about my next twist.

Once the carplay ultra rolls perfectly, it will not necessarily look the same from the car to the car. This is due to two major reasons: First, Apple is allowing car manufacturers to optimize the experience “Express your different design philosophy with look and expect your customers.” On the other hand, you are capable of adapting the look of the carplay ultra, between the driver, color, wallpaper and the “instrument cluster” theme.
We make sure more to see more about this feature from Apple as it starts rolling completely. But if you want to expect a small glimpse of what you expect, look at that initial press release. An Aston Martin has a small simulation of the interior; It shows the driver’s screen with an active speedometer, tacometer and Apple music widget, while the main display has an active Apple maps scene. On its right, you can see a small Apple Maps Widget displaying the next turn, a small Apple Music Widget that is characterized by playback control, and a small calendar widget showing the next meeting of the driver.
