The subject of Siri, and upgrade Apple promised back to WWDC 2024, has been very hot for the past few months. Ever since Apple had to delay the rollout of Siri’s AI-Infused upgrade, it was “long thought (Apple).” Well, it seems that this may be a learning experience for Apple.
Mark Gurman and Drake Bennett of Bloomberg have Mammath report The rollingout of Apple’s Siri Fiysco, and clearly known as “LLM Siri”, internal. In fact, due to all high-profile delays, both reporters say Apple is not announcing new facilities since now.
It seems that this is the same lesson that Apple should have been learned with Airpower Charger, which was declared back in 2017 and never released again. All because Apple announced the charger very quickly before it realized that it was not really able to make it.
Apple was blinded by chat
The report tells in great detail, but I will try to explain the position behind Apple’s AI Blunders as much as possible. A major problem is that Apple started late and, as the previous leaks claimed, the sudden popularity of services such as chatgipts surprised the company.
In fact, despite being the AI department for many years already, Apple did not even consider the concept of Apple Intelligence before the release of Chatgpt in 2022. Subsequently, it seemed that Apple had to scrape to catch – all while the rest of the technical industry was doing the same.
Prior to the launch of Chatgpt, Apple’s software head Craig Federighi was reluctant to invest to improve what was necessary to improve the AI capabilities of Apple – especially since there was no final target. According to sources, it was not until the slapping was released and Federighi used generic AI in one of his projects that the benefit became clear for him.
Due to this, there was a sudden published towards generative-AI facilities for the then-up-iOS 18. Despite the pivot for LLMS, it became clear that Apple was not going to be able to catch-and Apple’s chatbot was behind the chat and Gemini’s choice.
Looks like Apple is a lot of items wrong
In a way Apple tried to catch, the older Siri was to bolt the new LLM Siri, which is the biggest problem with rolling the new feature for iOS. It was described by sources as “whicken-a-mole”, in which an old problem was set every time.
Apparently, individual characteristics look good, but everything is different due to integrating them as an entire “Siri”. Therefore, it is no surprise that the new LLM Siri is as delayed as it has.
Apple’s AI chief, John Giannandrea, has taken a lot of blame for Apple’s AI defects because he is not a “tremendous” personality like other officials. Not only does this mean that he has alleged that the AI department has not fought enough for funding, but the employees also claim that it is not actually not actually pursuing the team.
This is partially because he does not see rival chatbot manufacturers as serious hazards for Apple, but potentially because he does not believe that chatbots are the features that consumers really want.
However, Giannandrea has claimed that Siri’s failure is not on it – and it should be placed to overhipping on Apple’s marketing teams and focus on the characteristics that did not end. Apparently, these some product managers are responsible for finalizing, which will be Federighi in this case.
And the final insult is that Apple AP was a bit very conservative in buying the GPU required for processing. Apparently, this was motivated to buy all supplies to Apple’s rivals, and GPU deficiency meant that Apple’s model was resulted in a lot of gradually trained.
Now what does this mean for Siri?
One thing that explains the report is that Apple WWDC 2025 has more time to spend more time to talk about Siri. Even the features that have already been announced, but yet physically, are still “months away” from shipping.
If there is anything good for Apple, then it is plowing its necklace and further under the rug. So expect the WWDC iOS 19, which is expected to receive a major redesign, and other facilities designed to go when this fall comes.
We can hear more about the changes in Apple Intelligence, but if this report is correct, we should not expect repetition of last year. What we can all agree is a good thing. Apple Intelligence’s promise is all well and good, but people do not really like to buy promises, especially when those promises can be broken.
