Ever since Apple has made it easy to change some default apps on its iPhone, it becomes quite convenient to switch away from the company’s apps, whenever you prefer a third party option. With iOS 18.4, Apple also made it possible to change its default translation app. Earlier viewed by MarastersYou can officially set Google translation as a default app for translation, if you prefer it on Apple Translate.

Translate the default translation app to Google on your iPhone

There are some ways to go about this, but I recommend the easiest method. If you never use it, simply remove the Apple’s translate app from your iPhone, and the device will automatically choose the Google translation as a default translation app- assuming that you are running the latest version of Google’s app. This is not ideal for those who sometimes rely on the Apple translation, but if you know that you don’t need it, you can also save time and storage space.

You can also switch without removing any app. On your iPhone, go to Settings> App> Default Apps> Translation And select Google translation from the list. If you use any other translation app supporting the convenience of Apple’s default app, they should also be shown on this page, and you can use your favorite app as a default option.

You can use this feature in any iPhone app that lets you choose the lesson. Tap Translation The button in the popover menu above the selected text, and you will see the translation of Google translation at the bottom of the screen of your iPhone. It does a good job to detect the language of the selected text and offer a translation in your favorite language (which is raised from your iPhone’s language settings), but without leaving any app that the app is using, there is an option to change languages easily.

What do you think so far?

As long as this feature appears, you can still use Google translation on your iPhone, but it requires some additional taps. This is a small but useful way to streamline the process.
