The Galaxy S25 edge camera is misleading, and I think it is preventing you from buying one. Finally, the specification includes the Galaxy S25 Ultra from Big 200-Megapixel’s main camera, but it does not have a telephoto like the Galaxy S25 Plus, making it an odd model.
I was worried that a telephotar deficiency would damage the versatility of the S25 edge, so it is busy taking zoom photos with the phone to find out if you can live with it, or if it is a serious negative for the best, thinning smartphone we have seen in some time.
Optical vs. optical quality
Samsung has not installed a telephoto camera with a 200MP main camera of S25 Edge and 12MP wide-angle camera, but says you have got a 2X “optical quality” zoom capable of 200MP camera. This means that the camera takes a full resolution photo and crops it in the sensor itself, without using pixel enhancement and digital cropping when you use it in 4x or 10x zoom in the app. The result should be a pure, natural looking zoom photo.
Despite Samsung’s technical efforts, to explain to us otherwise, optical quality zoom shots almost always, in our head, will sound like a compromise. The Galaxy S25 Plus or the Galaxy S25 Ultra will be a camera fan after the correct optical quality telephoto camera, and considering the $ 1,100 price of the S25 Edge, thinking that the phone was worth one anyway.
Space is probably the main reason why this is not one. To fit Samsung into the S25 age, the 200MP camera had to reduce the module size by 18%, which was probably no easy task, and also evidence that there is a very low additional room inside the phone. Large -scale sensors and engineering flair camera make no difference when they face “optical quality” telephoto images. But is this stance supported by pictures that take it?
First S25 Edge Zoom Photos
I am shooting photos with the Galaxy S25 Edge for the last week, and the camera app has given special attention to the 2x optical quality zoom shortcut. Although it is not versatile as 3x telephoto, zooming in 2x still helps the frame photos in an interesting way, introduces more depth of the area, and focuses on specific details that can lose in a standard 1x photo.
I spent a day with Hyundai Kona Electric, and captured some striking details on this unusual looking car with 2x zoom of S25 Edge. The main 2x shot of the car is excellent, which has sufficient depth of the area to make the exact white balance and the subject pop. Seriously, when you crop the image again, there is almost no noise, although there is some halo when you look very closely.
Hellowing is the main concern, and when it appears in some 2x photos, it does not always occur and may depend on the position of light. It is also possible that it will be fixed in future software updates. The shot of the dashboard taken between the sweeping door frame reflects the mass of expansion, with the text on the button and the screen fast and clear, and the dark footwell has a slight noise. The close-up of the front and the wing again displays the great white balance, this time without any work, and on the tire and the excellent expansion level inside the light unit.

Now spring has arrived, bees are gathering when blooming. How the Galaxy S25 Edge camera takes photos here, as it has to focus on small subjects, quite close up. I like to use telephoto cameras for shots such as these, and is pleasant with the performance of the S25 edge.
I took dozens of pictures, and you can see one of the better images here. This is not the fault of the camera I took a lot, but an issue with bees is not staying for long. The focus on the flower is sharp, but it has also caught BEE in the flight effectively. Some speed is blurred, but it is to be expected, and it does not ruin the photo. The factor in this is not an optical zoom, and was taken in hand with the camera in auto mode, it is decent.
But what is out of optical quality 2x mode? There is good news here, and where I have also reduced the camera, the 3x zoom is very useable, yet Samsung is not promoting it as optical quality. The second picture of the bee was taken on 3x, so a digital zoom, and quality is excellent. There is a very expansion, strong color and a pleasant depth of the region. 3x mode is far better as much as I expected, perhaps more than 2x mode.

This is not a complete review of the camera of the Galaxy S25 Edge, but the decision not to include a true telephoto camera caused some dispute, even though it was not unpredictable that given the design of the phone, it was more likely to be a hindrance to purchase than anything.
I underestimated the Galaxy S25 Edge’s Zoom Camera Mode, and in doing so it was also judged by how good Samsung’s optical quality zoom is. I should have more confidence, given that after switching from the 10x optical telephoto of 10x 10x of Galaxy S23 Ultra, I am equal concern about the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s 10x hybrid zoom. It also turned out to be very good.
If you choose it, it is not worth turning you off the phone or feeling smaller than the Galaxy S25+. It is very capable, even on 3x zoom, and a great example is how to use technology, just to solve the problem of not being able to squeeze another camera in the body. I have really enjoyed the Galaxy S25 Edge so far, and look at the amazing portability and luxurious ergonomics of the 5.8 mm thick case. If you woo by it, but are worried about it, there are only two cameras on the back, you can tick that concern from your list.
