Despite the monopoly of Google Chrome on the web browser market, there are many good options that you can try. Arc, one of the best chrome options, is being closed, but you still have better options available.

Arc closes your tab for good

If you are using ARC, you already know that the browser company (TBC) had stopped shipping new features for the browser some time ago. Currently, TBC only offers patch for chromium updates, bug fixes and security weaknesses. It left the chap, but rather, thinking about the future of the browser, especially TBC had already announced that it was working on a new browser called DIA.

Well, TBC CEO Josh Miller has answered the questions of the community in a post Letter 2025 to arc membersThe Post talks about where the arch fell low, where TBC went wrong, why it did not integrate the DIA in Arc, and whether it would be an open-sourcing arch to develop the community.

Miller’s letter is anything, but the official confirmation is that the active development of ARC has ended, and the company will only provide the necessary security updates and major bug fixes. Once one of the most new web browsers was a niche product used by a small community of power users – what to do with TBC arch, contrast. In Miller’s own words:

A lot of people loved arc – if you are here you can be one of them – and we will basically benefit from a day continuously, organic growth. But for most people, the arch was very different, to learn a lot of new things, for very little reward.

The first crack of TBC in web browsers did not challenge big browsers such as Chrome, Firefox or Safari, but it was quite different to make a place for itself. I have used arch since February 2024, when I got admission to its beta program on Windows until a few months ago, when the browser was bounded to be practically unusable.

Most of my time daily driving arc hopes that the TBC will achieve feature equality with the MACOS version, but it never came. Arch on Windows was very inferior to its Macos version, but TBC did so well with Arch on Mac that I hoped to repeat it on Windows.

Lack of features on the Windows version placed the arch as the final chrome option, which was aimed at least on Windows. However, if you are using Macos, it is still one of the best browsers you can use, despite the announcement.

    There are better browser

The community wanted the arc to open so that it could be developed independently. However, ARC is built on a custom infrastructure called ADK, Arc Development Kit. This secret sauce TBC uses to make its browser, which means that it is also at the core of the DIA, its upcoming browser. The ARC cannot be completely open without exposing the Adk, and TBCs are not yet ready to make that code public.

This means that it is about the time when you start looking for options, and you are in luck. There is a stunning number of web browsers to try in 2025, all with their unique tech on the Internet.

Browser such as brave, dakdukgo, or avast secure browser are great from a safety perspective. If you are a tab ho -order, Vyldi, Zen, and even Opera GX are great options. You also have the option to switch to mainstream browser such as chrome or edge. Depending on my limited experience, I would advise to stay away from safari, though.

If you want my recommendation, then go with Zen browserThis is my current daily driver, is based on firefox, and has proved myself in my search to find the final browser on Windows. If you are using arc and want to switch, Zen has a similar layout and feature set, which means that you will feel right at home. It is also available on MACOS and Linux, so it actually covers all user locations and is much better on convenience parity despite being in beta.
