When it is not working impressive, Cath sew. Very. And so, when I asked him what was one of his favorite gadgets, he said that it was his brother 1034D Seger. If you are not sure what a seger is (I was definitely not), read on.
What is really a thread seger?
A seger, also known as an overloker, is a type of sewing machine that is usually used in making apparel. It has two needles and uses four strands of thread at a time and to make the ends and the finished edge you see the most woven, such as T-shirts and leggings. It also contains a knife that cuts the edge of your cloth at the same time, so the finished product looks clean and professional.
When did you buy it, and what decision did you go to the decision?
I bought this last March as a birthday and tax return. I am wishing one for a while, because I sew lots of clothes. I am agile about style and being fat, there is a difficult time to find clothes that I like really fit me. I also like to wear knots because they are comfortable, and traditional sewing machines are not mainly to sew clothing, which require stretch seams. You can use a zigzag stitch to get a stretch in your seam, but the seger sew and cuts everyone at once, as well as eliminates the edges inside, so it saves a lot of time.
In choosing a seger, I wanted one that was easy to thread, there was an adjustable free hand for cuffs and sleeves stitching, and could sew several layers of fabric at a time. I saw a group of Sergers’ YouTube reviews and found it very inexpensive – and it examined my boxes. It also got a better review than its cheap brother -in -law, DX. I was already intimidated because the four spoles of thread are scary. But it has clearly labeled and color-coded for threading and comes with a manual, so I learned it and put it down within half an hour.
What do you usually make with it?
So far, I have hem a couple shirt and made a maxi skirt (with pockets!) And a crop top. It was trying to learn how to use it after a long and disappointing period. I also dull two different knives, learning that you cannot stitch on the pin with a seger because there is a big metal knife that is cutting your seam.
what do you like about it?
Sometimes when you are stitching the knot on a traditional (lockstich) machine, the edges are inadvertently ruffled (due to one due to one DogWhich is a movable plate that pulls the material from stitching to stitching). This can make your piece very strange and bad. Another big thing about this seger is that there is some difference in it called a differential feed, which uses two feed dogs to sew your cloth together. It can be adjusted to feed a piece of fabric rapidly or slow, so it will be used to level your wobbly knitted seam HemAlso A meeting comes with footWhich can be used for gathering and sewing (intentionally) ruffles!
Is there anything about it that you dislike or do you think that can be improved?
It is not really quite enough to research me, but when I bought it, I was finally excited to be able to do the prestigious two-thread. Covalence You see on the hem of T-shirts and other knit accessories, only to find out you In fact, an entire other machine is required that literally does only one thing. It was disappointing to find out, but to compensate, Seger actually comes with one Blind hem foot That you can use one to imprint one of the one. It is like sewing in a way to be right, however, because you are stitching from the wrong side of the fabric, and I had to do a lot of samples to test it before using it on any cloth.
Whom would you advise to?
If you sew a lot of knitwear clothes, it can be a really useful tool to level your clothes and be a little more efficient! This is not a total replacement for a lockstich sewing machine, but I am really liked it yet. Don’t be very frightened by four threads: they are your friends. And do not try to sew on any of your pin.
