Gmail is getting this annoying AI facility that you should close immediately

Does that email plan to skim later? Mithun probably already did for you. Google’s AI is now leaving the summary card on top of your inbox. No clicks, no indication. Just baked in unwanted AI-Janit Cliffsnotes, Gmail for its email.

AI Summary is taking forward seats in Gmail

    Google

Google is often adding new Gemini features to Gmail. Earlier, it has pair a Q&A feature that lets you ask your inbox questions. Now, Gemini will summarize your email in the Gmail app on the iPhone and Android devices. It will automatically recur on top of long messages, without you need to do a job.

If it seems familiar, it is because Gemini already lived in the side panel of Gmail, introducing alternative equipment such as draft suggestions, quick answer and manual email summary. But now, instead of waiting for the call, the summary cards will pop up on their own when Gmail decides that an email is enough to be worth one.

In theory, it can be a major time-seed. If you trigger it yourself in small emails, you will still see the manual “submit this email” option. Also, the characteristics of the side panel persist. But this rollout carries Gemini from an alternative assistant for an active partner in your conversation.

Gemini now makes it easier to link your gmail and Google calendar

The field users can now use a new tool of Gemini to create a calendar event from Gmail.

Whether it is a welcome upgrade or an attack of your privacy depends on your tolerance that considers your needs for you. And this is not the first time we have seen that the summary has become a default action on your phone.

Apple tried to do something similar by summarizing the app push notification with his AI. The result, however, was repeated, especially when the news headlines were summarized. This eventually inspired the company to stop the feature for the news app completely. This is one reason that I am still not sold on Apple Intelligence.

Google is also not immunity. Its AI observation in the search has been well -known badly badly.

While the email summary of Gemini would not suggest adding glue to your pizza, the reliability of these auto-generated snippets is a proper concern. The context matters, and even a mildly incorrect summary can present the tone or meaning incorrectly – especially in sensitive or professional conversation.

    You can disable auto summary

For now, this feature is limited to the email written in English. Depending on where you are, it can be turned on or closed by default. This strict data is disabled in the European Union, UK, Switzerland and Japan due to privacy laws. Outside those places, however, you have to disable it manually.

If you are in the Google scope environment, your administrator can completely disable it. At the moment, it does not seem that you can close it personally. Instead, you will have to get out of the individual characteristics of all Gmail by toggling smart features in Gmail. For more specific instructions to disable smart features, you can See Google’s support page,

I personally recommend closing this feature, just to protect the privacy of your email. Providing even more access to an AI that can be a personal email, just does not sit well with me.

For Google, this is just another step in embeding AI in products you use every day. For busy users drowning in email, this can be a blessing. For those burnt by privacy huxe and previous AI Flbs, this is another reason for running carefully and perhaps the proton mail or other, trying to de-swing your life by trying similar services.

Either way, Google says that this feature is rolling for Gmail, so it is only a matter of some time until it hits your inbox.
