Doomscrolling is the easiest way to lose track of time and lose its day’s productivity in a zombie-fit state. Stepin app puts back control in your hands – or even, your feet – you already earn your time to unlock the phone apps.
Why did I choose to use Stepin app
Along with many millenniums or genes – and let’s be honest, even our parents’ generations – I am wasting the day by scrolling myself on my phone. Hour after hours. And it often seems that I do not have enough time a day to complete the actual tasks in my two-two list.
As I work from home, I can correct my phone in all hours of the day. And once it lifted it, it is difficult to keep it down. I have tried countless other techniques to try to reduce my screen time, but I always get excuses to use my phone, and then, before I know that there is a four -hour scrolling.
With more than eight hours of screen time – which includes all types of apps and domains, not only social media – it was getting problematic for me. But download Stepin There was a technique that I had not tried yet.
I thought why not try something new? This cannot make my phone addiction to any worse.

How am I using the focus mode of my phone, which I am doing

I used Stepin for a week – what I learned
I first downloaded Stepin on Sunday night. I am already making changes in my life to encourage the use of low phones, more exterior time, and, overall, a more productive day, including avoiding my inbox before noon. Finding Stepin allowed me to mix all these items together, in the hope that I could reduce my phone’s time, while more active and eventually productive with my time.
Since I am already trying to go out in the day time, Stepin came at the right time. I always intend to not use my phone in the morning anyway, so one afternoon time works for me for the afternoon, as it creates minutes a few minutes after time when I allow myself to use my phone.
I work as a pet-sitter and dog-wocker, so when I have customers to walk, I easily build screen time during the day when I am at home on a regular day. It is both a profit and curse, as it is beneficial to go out and walk already during the day, but then the temptation to know that I already have a screen time available on the back of my head, if I knew that I had no one.
When Stepin was first installed, I set my priorities at that time. I went for default options, which included a midnight reset, daily accumulation of steps, and 100 meters running, resulting in a one minute screen time.
I take my phone with me
Usually, I try to leave my phone in my bedroom when I start my morning routine. I never take my phone to the bathroom, until it is already in my pocket. I do not pick up my phone when going to the kitchen or from the room in my house to the room. Often, I try to leave my phone from my bed, while I work in my office for the day, in bid to avoid more distractions.
Since downloading Stepin, I have found that I take my phone completely everywhere, I hope that I can earn a time or two by taking steps around my house. It actually goes aimed at downloading Stepin. But perhaps it is how bad the addiction of my phone has become.
In those days when I know that I can’t get out for a walk by evening, it bothers me that I am completely blocked from social media. I do not have a big house, but I have found that I have made myself in the afternoon in the kitchen or from bedroom to office, hopefully I can get 100 meters first and one minute time, if I have an emergency to use my apps.
It is fruitless, of course, and using Stepin. During a week, I found myself doing it. I deliberately make a part of my daily routine as a result of my time management and benefiting my health.
Over time, using Stepin has made me less dependent on my phone, even though it initially made me more obsessed with it.
Customization after setting is not super flexible
Although the preferences in Stepin are optimized and are really quite flexible, once you set them in the beginning, changing them becomes less flexible. This is due to the line-based system in the place. If you change your priorities later, you lose your streak.
Among my self-planned rules of “good” or “bad” apps, messaging apps are “good” and scrolling apps are “bad”. I want to have my contact availability for work, friends and family, or organizations, and I am not feeling myself that I have forced social separation by removing access to messaging apps.
There is no difference between a domain and an app block in Stepin, so despite the fact that I tried to keep my Facebook Messenger app unblock, but blocked the Facebook domain – because I did not have an app installed anyway – I was disappointed that the Messenger app was equally blocked. If I install Facebook, perhaps it can be avoided so that I can block the app instead of domain – but it seems to me upside down.

7 ways I avoid dumacrolling on social media
End of Doomscrolling!
Time resettates at midnight, so whatever steps I have earned throughout the day, it does not matter after waking up once. Broadly, it is a great system, because it means that I have nothing to woo to close my phone alarm and immediately began to scroll.
I meditate after waking up every morning using YouTube video. I initially wanted to block YouTube as it encourages unintelligible scrolling or encourages a long video with low intentions, but this means that when I wake up in the morning I have no step and I could not reach my attention video.
So I had to unblock YouTube – I found myself to do dumcrolling or watching longform videos throughout the day, because I can’t block YouTube.
I will prefer a setting to choose specific time to block or unlock apps. I know that if I did not reset at midnight and until I woke up, I used to give myself access to apps, I will end dumcolling in that extra time. I have no self-control.

I tracked every hour of my day for a week – which I have learned
There is no other laxity. No more waste more time.
Once I make time on Stepin, I have found that I am not doing almost as much as I will do before. Earlier, I did not even take notice of the time for which I used to scroll, and I often spent scrolling in a zombie state for two hours when I was “checking my messages for just five minutes.”
Unlike the iPhone screen time function, which I have set over the years, Stepin has more options for how long you can unlock apps. The iPhone screen time options are just for one minute (which only offers that option to switch to the option, 15 minutes, or for the rest of the day.

I used this iPhone facility to get my free time back
Slight downtime sets a long way.
Stepin provides a minute-by-minute option until Stepin is earned from walking. Since downloading Stepin, the idea of actively choosing 30+ minutes has frightened me. I mostly choose for only two minutes – the default option – or even one minute.
These quick time allowed me to use social media with intentions, and I wondered how much time it really takes two minutes in these matters. You can do a lot in two minutes when you are not zombified.
The guilt is real
Stepin works on a streak-based system, similarly for Duoolingo-another of my daily habits. Gamified productivity works successfully because we, as humans, do not like the crime of failure. Even when it is something as worldly as using your phone.
Once I felt that I needed to use a social media app before earning at any time, trying to choose the option to bypass the block that a pop-up said that if I was unblock, I will lose my streak. This immediately felt bad of me, and I realized that my argument was not so important to use the app. It can wait for a few hours until I got some steps later.
Streak helps a lot, but even the process of unlating an app through Stepin also asks you how much you need to use the app or your phone to start. Unlike the iPhone screen time notification, which is a one-click system, Stepin is a multi-step process. This puts more intention and interruptions in your decision to use one of your blocked apps.
When you first install Stepin, you determine your preferences which apps to block. Once your line has started, changing any preferences will break your line. This adds an additional element of guilt because it questions me whether I really need to use a certain app. I continued my streak instead of breaking it for additional use.

Stepin has improved my life
Among the many techniques, I have tried over the years to reduce my screen time or avoid domacrolling, installing the Stepin app has been the most successful.
Stepin has taught me more self-control and time management about dumacrolling. I use my blocked apps or domains – with the intention of scrolling with intentions instead of Instagram, Redit, BBC News, LinkedIn and Facebook.
I do not even use many of my earned minutes, because I choose only two minutes at a time, and with it being at my discretion, I think I do not want to scroll anymore.
The biggest surprise to use Stepin is how much time I have now. I complement my work fast, often my self-in-laws-before the middle-day rule ends, and then I go out for a walk in the middle of the day. All this extra time does not want to dominate me to be more productive in the afternoon and evening. And I will read a book, do something crafts, or talk to someone. I do not remember dumacrolling and my life is better like this.
