Microsoft recently made some changes to the Start menu on Windows. Users can now officially try the new start menu officially for the first time since the release of the latest Windows 11 Insider Preview Build for Dev Channel on Monday. This shows a scrolling interface, new viewing options and compatibility to various screen sizes in the start menu. There are new visual options and an extended cross-device integration of Android and iOS devices.

In a blog postMicrosoft announced that it is rolling on the Dev Channel on Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26200.5641 (KB5060824). While bug fixes and performance improvements are part of updates, the highlight remains a new start menu. Tech veteran has made twics in the start menu and now has a scrolling interface. There is a new All Options at the top of the window can be scrolled to find the apps you required.
In addition, the Start menu are getting two new visual options – category and grid views.

Former groups apply apply for quick access. Microsoft says that categories are made when their respective category has at least three apps. Otherwise, they are listed under “others”. Meanwhile, the grid visual list is similar to the view, linging the app in an alphabet order. However, it is said to provide more immovable property horizontally for easy discovery. Windows will recall the last used scene and next time you open the start menu according to the company, you will apply it.
The latest Windows 11 Insider Preview Build also enables OS to adapt to the start menu size depending on the screen size of the device. Larger devices will display eight columns of four columns in the apps, six recommendations and categories. On the other hand, the start menu pinned apps on the small screen device will show six columns, four recommendations and three columns in categories.
The start menu will see the Windows 11 user pinned sections falling down in a row, giving priority to other classes. It can be set on an extended scene by default through settings. Finally, the company is also improving cross-device integration by allowing users to expand or collapse mobile device content using a dedicated button, which is placed next to the search box. The feature is currently available for Android and iOS devices in most markets and will later be expanded to the European Economic Zone.
