Franchise leaders from all over the world are united for the inaugural World Franchise Day today, a new global initiative that aims to raise awareness about the significant economic impact of franchiseing and celebrate local trade owners behind brands.

“People often think that franchising is just a big business,” says McNell. “But the franchises are your neighbors. They hire locally, pay local taxes and support their communities. They are the definition of local purchases.”
From mobile dogs to home services and fitness studios, franchising is expanding in new areas worldwide. According to the Canadian Franchise Association, franchising is now more than 660 Specific Professional categories – beyond fast food and retail.
