I am not a stranger for Fujifilm cameras. The Japanese veteran has built some of the best mirrorless cameras and the best instant cameras, which I have enjoyed to use and review. After testing the cameras with the choice of Canon, Sony, Nikon and Panasonic, I keep coming back to the Fujifilm.
For me, Fuji cameras feel magical with film simulation cuisine that are very tasty.
So, of course, when Fujifilm announced the new X-E5 of the brand, I was ignored, and why wouldn’t I be? It has a 40MP sensor, uses the X-TRANS CMOS 5 processor, and has a film simulation dial … Wait, which looks a terrible like the X-T50. And x100vi.
As soon as the X-E5 product page was live, I quickly compared its glasses against the X-T50-a camera that had been sitting in my online car for about a month. Nothing jumped on me (except the price), and nothing went to me, “Okay, I am waiting till August.” So, what did I do? I paid for the X-T50 and within three days, it was in my hands.
Do I regret it? No, should you buy X-T50 instead of X-E5? that depends. Let me show you why I pulled the trigger when I should have done this a month ago.
Looks like kills

I have a soft location for the Fujifilm X-T50: this is the first mirrorless camera that I reviewed for Tom’s guide, and I immediately fell in love with its design. The charcoal gray colorway is amazing, and the metal alloys used in the manufacture of its top plate give a premium edge to the X-T50.
One of the most important sales points of X-E5 is its compact design, in which the body measures 4.9 x 2.8 x 1.5 inches. Even when combined with the new 23 mm pancake lens, the size change is negligible, allowing you to slip the camera in your pocket and go about your day.
However, it is not that X-T50 Not there. Portable either, measure 4.8 x 3.3 x 1.9 inches.

Its current kit lenses are bulkiers compared to pancake lens, but still, a handbag is higher than enough for transport. No, scratch that, I am hanging X-T50 around my neck because this is such a grand camera-why wouldn’t I want to show it? It is not heavy, whose weight is 15.5 ounces (0.2 ounces lighter than the X-E5, in fact).
Treat your eyes
When I tested the Fujifilm X-T50 in May 2024, I took some cute pictures (if I can tot my own horn for a second, thank you), and you can scroll through the sample gallery above.
The X-T50, as I mention the top,, like the X-E5, claims 40.2MP sensors with the latest X-Trans CMOS 5 processor of Fuji. Being several megapixels at your disposal gives you some space for tight crops.
The autofocus systems of both cameras are the same, also, use 425 Air Force points to lock animals and humans. Fuji’s color science as usual, and both cameras dedicated the film simulation dial. You can quickly swap between dishes and also assign custom.
X-T50 is one year old-which is not old at allIn the context of the camera – and I think it is severely low. I get an appeal for X-E5. It is a bright new thing that online forums have quickly dubbed the Savior of the XE lineup. But the X-T50 should not be underestimated. I believe it is Cameras for those who do not want to spend too much money, but still get beautiful colors and are able to change the lens.
Bottom for $ $ $

Let’s talk about the elephant in the room: the price difference between Fujifilm X-E5 and Fujifilm X-T50. X-T50 body retail $ 1,399 / £ 1,299, and if you are in the UK, it is Currently below £ 1,039 in AmazonOn the other hand, the X-E5 body (currently available to pre-order) is retail $ 1,699 / £ 1,299.
Both cameras are the same price in the UK, but the X-E5 is a pricier in the US-and attaching the new 23 mm pancake lens to the camera increases to $ 200. Or you can get X-T50 with 15-45 mm lens for you $ 1,499 , £ 1,399, Which is not shabby.
Spac-wise, X-T50 one in a few ways the X-E5. Its 1.84 M-Dot touchscreen X-E5 of X-E5 is better than one. It has a built-in flash for low-light shooting. It can shoot raw videos, which cannot do X-E5. Electronic shutters of both cameras can shoot 20fps burst.
If you can tolerate it without thinking about the money to leave your account twice, I can’t think of any reason to stop you from buying X-E5. But personally, for me, X-E5 did not fascinate anything enough to remove me from X-T50.
Sure, the flip-up screen is a thoughtful addition to taking selfies, but I am not an old selfie, so it is not useful for me. There is also a new front control lever to tograph the surround view function, which I did not use much while testing the Fujifilm GFX100RF.
It’s simple, really: X-E5 is not a camera for me, but X-T50 Always The camera for me, the moment I first placed it in my hands.
