Your iPad is going to be very powerful and practical – and more like MacBook. This is because the iPados is packed with 26 functional features Apple is once reserved for its Mac lineup.
What’s new in iPados 26?
The upcoming software updates for iPad were introduced in Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC 2025) with the update update update iPados 26, iOS 26, Watches 26, MACOS 26 and other software updates. Each is packed with useful new features, including a new design language called liquid glass. And as often happens, iOS is getting features that Android have already been for years.
For iPad, the most important new features revolve around their re-designed winding systems, which first add mc-like multitasking to the tablet. I am thrilled what will be possible on the moving tablet.
Over fluid window size
For some time, one of the most important weaknesses of iPados has been poor control offered on the app window. Recent reforms on Split View and Slide show you two apps side-by-side or hover one window to another. However, they still feel clumsy as to how the app window is managed on Macos.
In iPados 26, Apple is adding a more fluid window size structure that feels oh-so-closes for Mac-Lic. It begins with adding the “traffic light” button in the top-left of each app window, which should feel familiar to any Mac user. This three-button tool allows you to easily close or reduce your windows, make full-screen, or arrange Windows in easy-to-review layout.
These new layouts are extended from the ability to flick on the left or right to arrange windows. For the first time, you can also organize your iPad screen in a third or quarter.
You can also open more windows at once, shape, and prefer them in iPados 26 in any way. All this is thanks to a new “grab handle” in the lower-right corner of every open app. You can make a window big or small in any direction using it.
Finding commands and options for iPad apps sometimes proves challenging, as they are often hidden by default. It changes with iPados 26, as the tablet receives a new menu bar. Located at the top of the apps, the menu looks similar to the tool found in the bar Macos and appears after swiping down on the screen. This app-specific features will be very easy to find. For example, on menu bar, you will find quickly edit, PourAnd Format tool.
After playing with the new menu bar in the pre-relief version of iPados 26, I am sure it can be a game-changer for someone who has considered to replace its computer with iPad. The new tool immediately adds familiarity and should improve productivity and efficiency. Add a mouse or trackpad, and the workflow can be further streamlined due to this new (yet old) feature.
Quick app switching with exposes
The iPados 26 exposes one of my favorite new winding features. While replacing all the Windows feature on the iPad, this app operates similar to the mission control functionality on Swither Mac. It becomes easy to see which apps are currently open on your tablet and allows you to switch more rapidly between apps.
Accessing access involves swiping your finger and holding your finger to spread all your windows, then tapping what you want to use and bring it out. As I learned using iPados 26 beta, this is a clever and early process.
Once again, this change brings Macos functionality to the iPad, adding an familiarity that was not before.
Folder in dock
Another important change in iPados 26 affects how you reach your download, documents and other folders. As you can already do on Macos, now you have the option to bring these types of files into your tablet do dock. After pulling any folder into your iPad’s dock, you have a near-meal access to the necessary documents and projects-as on your desktop.
In dock features, folders are further enhanced by the ability to adapt the folder icon using different colors by iPados 26. This should increase your productivity as it makes it easier to find documents by improving visual identity.
An iPad pointer
If you are interested in even more winding control for iPad, you will be happy to hear to pack iPados 26. The update also brings a real pointer to the iPad, which if you use a keyboard, trackpad, or mouse, it is perfect.
We are scratching the surface here here. Any of these features will take some time before it is live for most people, as iPados 26 is currently available only through beta. This will officially launch this decline.
For those who often work with many apps and windows, these new features increase multitasking efficiency on the iPad, causing it to get closer to the desktop experience. And yes, it (finally and eventually) can make it possible to replace its Mac with an iPad, which many people have tried to limit success before now.
