Eigenlayer today launched a developer platform, whether or off-chain, designed to bring a crypto-economic trust for any application. The product brings out the total commitment of the enterprise firm for more than $ 170 million with an investment of $ 70 million from A16Z.
We have first covered Eigenda, but today’s launch brings two additional service offerings: Eigenverfe and Eigencomput.
The gist is to bring the Eigenlayer closer towards the AWS of a full crypto: a verification layer for the Ethereum that combines off-chain execution with the onchain guarantee. The A16Z seems impressive to buy $ 70 million token, but it has a $ 4.5 billion fund, so it only brings its condition up to 3.7%.
If Eigencloud can execute on its promise, it may eventually bridget the gap between the web2 flexibility and the web3 Trust. But it is still necessary to prove that matters of actual slashing, decentralized governance and non-defense use will actually work and be on scale.
