- Define new rules of Etsy again means “handmade” means
- The vendors surprised because Etsy quietly updates its 3D printing policy
- Popular 3D prints can no longer complete the originality of Etsy test
Etsy has updated it Creativity standards policyTightening the rules about being handmade or deserving as a handmade on your popular market.
The most talked change affects 3D printed accessories, as only the items based on their designs of a seller will now meet the criteria. It seems to exclude many popular products, including flexi dragons (with or without eggs alike or without eggs), often made of licensed designs from third -party creators.
This change slipped under the radar for the first time because ETSY did not make a public announcement, instead the news was stuck in a community newspaper about keeping the market quietly safe.
Should be based on the original design of the seller
The vendors discovered changes while reading through legal fine prints under “our home rules”. Word spread quickly, and burnt 3D print forums with anxiety and confusion.
As Tom’s hardware The report, when Etsy was launched in 2005, was all about handmade objects and vintage. Over time, dropshippers and large -scale products have flooded the stage.
Etsy began to respond to the problem in 2024, which emphasized originality and a human touch with new creativity standards.
Everything on the site is now falling into four loose categories: designed, designed, hand -prepared, or sour.
Most 3D print vendors believed that they were covered under the “seller”, as they themselves print the item. Etsy has now clarified that these products should also be based on the original designs of the seller.
This expansion now holds thousands of current listings in the violation of the policy, but it is suggested that manufacturers can find around changes by adding adaptation to their compositions and providing unique photos and details for their listing.
ETSY has not banned 3D printing outright, and there is no suggestion that it is ever planned to do so. Sellers can still create and sell their own designs on the site, as well as alternative platforms such as eBay and tickets.
