Resident Evil has a new character in Grace Ashcroft in Ruveyam, but fans have speculated that Leon S. Kennedy can play a role in the game, possibly as another playable character. Director Koshi Naknishi silenced these rumors during last night’s Capkom Spotlight, where he revealed that Leon was initially considered for the role of request, but was eventually considered a bad fit for the game.
Nakunishi says that when they incorporate the popular hero of resident Evil 2 and 4, the main concept of “drug addiction fear”, an experience is so oppressively terrible that players enjoy overcoming their fears, not usually fit with Leone’s fearless and competent character depiction.
“We always thought of making Leon a hero, but it is difficult to make a horror game around him,” says Naknishi. “He will not jump on something like a bucket falling. No one wants to see Leone afraid of everything. So he is a really scary match.”
Resident Evil 2 Remake
Although it is not necessary that Leon may appear in a non-playable capacity, it seems that fans will not get their desire to control the agent of the former police government in the new game. Capcom Sportlight also shared more about the decision behind the story, theme and the lead of the story of the resident Evil Requiim. You can read all about it here.
Resident Evil RequiM launches for Playstation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on 27 February. To learn more about how the game is still taking shape, we played it for 30 minutes during the summer sports festival. You can read our impression here.
