As a person who sits in front of a screen throughout the day in my living room, I am constantly looking for new music to work while I work. While I have some styles that I think are especially favorable to work-Ambient for some name, Dungon-Skin, and background video game music, a few-class is probably the best hack of all.
Unfortunately, it is easy to hit the extent of streaming services such as Apple Music and Spotify. At some point, you have to start looking forward.
Problem with streaming services
I have an Apple music membership because the service was launched for the first time, and I use the app every day. I listen to it while working, in the gym and in the car. Although the library is in plenty, the recommendations of service for some styles have begun to wear thin.
I will find that I am constantly recommending the same artists, which is adjacent to what I am hearing. In the case of small artists and fringe styles, recommendations do not work at all. I am talking, downtampo Zen-like texture will expect to hear a sudden change in the style of the style of such rapid books during cardio workouts.
All often Apple Music will feed me only one, which is not always a bad thing (and has helped me search for a lot of good artists), but the app struggles to break the new land. This can be disappointing if you have a broad taste, which I think is a matter for many people. Ever since I signed up for Apple Music, I did not have a Spotify membership, I am sure it has similar issues.

The best thing about looking forward is that external recommendations can still work with your current music membership. The music you can get on the journey, it is already apple music, spotify, or whatever is that you are using. At least, this is what I have found.
Turn to “small” services like Bandcamp
It is impossible to know which service has the largest catalog, but SoundCloud estimates that Apple and Spotify are one of the largest tracks with over 200 million tracks for 100 million appearances. Bandcamp does not suggest how many tracks are stored in its database, but when I am in the mood, it is one of my Go-to Destination to find new music.
No one is denying that the music on the bandcamp moves to alternative, unexpected and niche. It also makes anyone great for anyone who is tired of mainstream and major label recommendations that seem to be apple music and thus to take precedent. Bandcamp is not strictly Streaming The platform, this is a shop. You can also buy physical media and goods like digital music, vinyl. This is a great way to support artists, but it is also ideal for music streaming before buying.
Go to Bandcamp Discover Currently to see the list of best selling releases. You can get too much creative by reducing your search with style filters. If there is not a niche style of choice, click on the search box at the top and start typing to add it to the mixture. One click of each cover will start playing a track. Add it to your wishlist to track it, if you love it, buy it, and proceed to the next.
Take a moment to see any new artist or release on your existing streaming platform. Since they are the best-sellers, most of them are also in the mainstream catalogs. From here, you can start looking for your pics a little more deeply. I am a great fan to check the record label, which must be added to the artist’s page to find similar items.

Bandcamp lets you reduce your discovery by Local. You can find artists from your city, state, or country using “artists from somewhere”. There is also a “Surprise Me” filter under the “Best-Sailing” drop-down, which you will probably not see the surfaces otherwise.
I am browsing Bandcamp for about five minutes while writing this morning, and I have already discovered three new artists, which I will follow on Apple Music. These releases that Apple music never came forward. Now I am trying to pull myself away so that I can focus on work again.
Hit Facebook for Live Show
I am fast in the opinion that there are only two legitimate reasons for opening Facebook in 2025: to bargain on Facebook Marketplace, or to find out which bands and artists are coming to the city. Finding a new band is something attractive about finding you a fan, and the opportunity to see them is to perform live within a few weeks or months.
Facebook Event page It is very good for this, especially if you have fed some data to the algorithm that you like. The easiest way to do this is to click “Interested” or “Know” on some relevant Facebook events. Then you will be suggested at the same place, from the same promoters, or based on how your tastes are aligned with other attendees.
Surprisingly, I have got a lot of luck with Facebook’s suggestions. There is a lot of variety in these events, from small emerging artists to headline showstoppers you will be posted on hoardings around the city. Since I have started using Facebook more in this way, I also get a lot of recommendations in my news feed.
Of course, you should also check local promoters and places, to see who is coming to the city.
Discover completely new styles
One of my favorite websites from those days when Flash dominated the web, Ishqur had a guide to electronic music. While the original website was dependent on the browser plugin of Macromedia, Ishkur’s guide has been revived As a modern and responsible website.
However, the subjective and dripping in snark, the guide presents an attractive chronological guide to the history of modern electronic music. It includes examples that you can hear, details, related styles, standout artists and full mixture to enjoy.
Is with the same lines Every noise at a timeA website that performs a similar function except for several styles as possible. The website presents a complicated web of styles with various recommendations. This is not a history lesson, but it is still an absolutely attractive rabbit hole to fall down.
Click on a style to hear the sample drawn from the spotify, then click on the arrow next to the artist to find the style more closely. You will get a complete list of concerned artists that you can see from here. You will also see a web of related styles, each of which acts as a signapost for more things that you may like. You will search for styles you never knew, and artists you never knew that you love.
Since the website uses spotify for its samples, it should not be very difficult to add these artists to their current collection. Warned, it is a full time-link of a website that is difficult to keep it down after taking it.
Explore the world with radio garden and radiooooo
I think you probably don’t hear the radio too much. It is a shame, because if you have an Apple music subscription, you get access to the entire tunin radio catalog within the app. This can be great to discover new music, or simply allow someone else to determine what you should hear.
