    Proton launched privacy-prescribed encrypted AI Assistant Lumo

    Proton has launched a new tool, called Lumo, which offers a privacy-first AI assistant that user does not log to conversations and does not use its signals for training.

    Lumo’s default setting is not to search online, remove all chats at concluding, and do not store server-side conversations.

    “Other AI companies keep a record of all your conversations on all their servers, leaving this information unsafe for data leaks or exploitation,” Reads the announcement,

    “Lumo does not keep any log on your conversation server side, and any chat you saved can only be declined on your device.”

    The interface of Lumo resembles the mainstream LLM services, while the tool supports the file uploads with full encryption support.

    The infrastructure of Lumo is located in Europe, where GDPR is applied, so no sensitive data is transmitted to courts with weak data security rules.

    The service is introduced through three account levels, thus abbreviation:

    • Guest: There is no need for a proton account, but was limited to a certain number of questions weekly. Does not offer the option to maintain the conversation.
    • Free: Proton account required. The file adds upload, increases the question number range, and provides basic chat history encryption.
    • Plus: Cost $ 12.99/month. Unlocks all features including unlimited chat, extended encrypted chat history, unlimited favorite chat, and ability to upload many large files.

    At the time of launch, Lumo supports and reacts to English, French, German, Spanish and Italian, with additional languages will be gently added.
