Sony’s WH-1000xm6 is my pick for the best premium headphone of 2025. When I reviewed him, I found that he was excellent in almost every category. But in a way I think Sony can also improve these magnificent headphones (apart from the price lowering), making them more user friendly. When I was testing them, I could not find out how to use their version of spatial audio, emergent movie mode that makes it sound like audio is coming from you. So I reached Sony to find out.
Sony has her own name for spatial audio
Sony called her spatial audio feature a “360 reality audio upmix”, but it is essentially the same thing: the headphones raise the audio that you are hearing and process it to make it a 3D-lick (or spatial audio) effect. This means that you can hear things that are not to be immersive and the headphones will try their best to make them a sound. And they do this very well.

360 reality audio upmix to turn on, open Sound connect app (Sony’s app for managing headphones) and head for “My device” in the main menu. Under listening mode, select “cinema”. That’s it. There is no indication within the app that you are now using 360 reality audio upmix feature, but you will be able to hear the difference immediately.
This is more obvious when you draw a film with Dolby from a streaming channel like Netflix (or like youtube audio tests This one, which will look great on your phoneIt should actually be used to play movies/shows or video games. It also works with music, but it may be better to live with your customized EQ. The facility changes whatever EQ you have, so you will notice the difference in sound.
It all takes it to install, but you have not been done yet. Next, you need a third-party app that Soni has advised Adaptation Spatial audio. (I know, this is a pain.)
What do you think so far?
Adapt the spatial audio

Keep before we reach that other app Sound connect app open. Follow the instructions there to create a hearing profile. This is very simple, the questions you like. This will sound to your ears using an individual hearing analysis. It helps with clarity and a great experience in all apps, not only with spatial feature.

Then, you have to download 360 Reality Audio Live App To customize your spatial audio. This is one of the few apps that support 360 reality audio. You know that when you look at the screen “adaptation to the-1000xm6” screen, you complete the adaptation. Once you finish, your headphone will be customized in your ears for spatial audio, and you can try some videos of the app that support 360 reality audio how it works.
At this point, you will be able to enjoy spatial audio. While the 360 reality audio upmix feature will never match the True Sound Sound, it does a great job in upmixing non-Empire Sound. Just keep in mind that adaptation on 360 reality audio live apps will only work with compatible apps. But the hearing profile you create will work for anything, such as watching Netflix or other media. I am pleasantly surprised that how well it works-I want Sony that Sony will make her app more user friendly, so it will be easy to install.
