Typically, whenever a new feature for Windows comes out, Microsoft advertises everyone in a blog post so that everyone can know. Or if they do not, people soon discover the convenience after the update. However, an auxiliary characteristic sometimes slips through the crack, only after years to detect.

This was my response when I found this vague emergency restarted method for Windows 11 after stumbling on a post Sysadmin SubredditReddit User ‘-Steets-‘ shared information in 2022, although other commentators claim that the method was present on the Windows XP, which came out 20 years ago.

To reach the emergency restart, press Ctrl + Alt + Del Key on your Windows PC – a very common action. However, this time, hold the Ctrl key and click on the power button in the lower-right corner of the screen.

This action leads to a message on the screen, stating that you are trying to restart an emergency, “Click OK to immediately restart. Any unheard data will be lost.” The conclusion of the statement is, “Use it only as a last solution.” Click “OK”, and your computer will turn off normally.

You may be surprised about the difference between this emergency method and a regular restart. The answer goes back in the last term – “last resort”. As Betanews Explained in 2023, the method is “an alternative to a hard reset.” Technology is the closest thing to catch on your PC without catching on/off button.

This emergency restart is useful when your computer may be frozen at the point where nothing happens, and it does not respond to anything other than CTRL + Alt + DEL. The method is also helpful on a physical power button deficient laptop.

There are no drawbacks to use emergency restart. I did it on my desktop and many laptops – everything was fine. Again, this method is a final-khai attempt for some situations, although anything prevents you from using it as often as you want.

If you want another method, launch the command prompt and type “shutdown /r” to restart your machine. Other shutdown methods can be found on the instructions Microsoft’s Learn website,
