HP’s new Omnibuk 5 In 2025 I tested one of the most compelling light laptops. Marketed as a trusted partner for busy students and professionals, this device returns those promises with a long battery, a sharp display and a light design.
I spent a few weeks with this smooth laptop, and it was impressed with how well it was performed. But it is not just about hardware, it is a holistic user experience. I would also say that Apple users looking for experiences such as MacBook on Windows should check OMNIBOOOOK 5.
A familiar aesthetics
First, at a glance, the Omanibook 5 looks like a MacBook. From bright silver colorway to opposite gray chiclet-style keys, vibrant, up to 2K display, certainly there is some similarity here. However, I wondered how light it was. In 2.84 pounds, lifting Omanibuke sounds like lifting a paper notebook.
Like the MacBook Air, it has only a few ports. On one hand, you will find a pair of 10GBPS Thunderbolt 4 port, and on the other, a USB-A next to a headphone jack. If you want more, you have to supplement the device with a laptop docking station.

The speakers of the Omanibuk are located in front of the laptop, just below the wrist comfort. The most ideal place is not, but at least they are powerful. Thanks to HP Audio Boost, the audio output is rich, and the songs covered me in a bubble of sound. Woofer inside HP’s laptop provides a nice, porous bass that can be felt in the lower part of the computer.
It was nice to type on the keyboard. Each key has a good amount of accountability, and thanks to the rubber cap, they are also cool. I am also happy to declare that Omanibuka passes 5 un-fledged tests. It is firmly applied when you increase the lid.
The screen of my review unit was a 2K (1,900 x 1,200 pixels), with a maximum glow of 300 NITs and 95% of the DCI-P3 color surge. Such a performance provides a lively visual output that is only full of life.
A negative side is that I did not like how shiny it is. Even if you crank the glitter in its maximum setting, it can be difficult to clearly see the screen because it shows how light it shows. It is complex with inky black oled.
Mild power
Because HP OmniBook 5 is an arm-compatible laptop, benchmarking can be a bit difficult because some of my normal tests were not worked. Hood has a Qualcomm Snapdragon X Plus chipset, 32 GB RAM and a Qualcomm Adreno X 1-45 graphics card. I was surprised to see 32GB memory in this small laptop because I was expecting a normal 16GB of RAM.
You can get it in the 16GB configuration, by the way, and it is quite cheap. That version of Hp omnibuq 5 Available at the best purchase for $ 549.

The 32GB version, however, is slightly more powerful, and will sometimes be able to handle growing software demands. The presence of that amount allows Omnibook to perform greatly decency. Below is a chart in which HP device is compared to M4 MacBook Air and Asus Zenbook A14, a laptop that is similar in form and function.
You will see that it improved the zenbook in Geekbench, suggested up-average processing power, although it comes behind Apple’s latest MacBook Air with M4 chip. Omnibook sits somewhere between the two. However, numbers show it falling back into Cinebench 24, which suggests that it will have some difficulty in dealing with heavy workloads such as providing high-resolution video or 3D model.
During my test, I did not face any major issues with OmnibuC 5. It performed quite well as a task machine. For example, I edited some high-resolution photos while running several Amazon listing on many 1440p YouTube livestreams, 10 looping gifs and Chrome. All this performed a cordial performance.
During everyday use, there was no recession, and I was able to fix my photo editing. For the second test, I replaced the dial by running a 50 chrome tab, one of which streams the “braking bad” on Netflix.
I also interacted with HP’s AI fellow assistant, and once my conversation with AI assistant was not interrupted. I was able to ask independently for advice to improve my cardio workouts, and what shoes are running to buy without leaving a beet. There was some recession with Chrome, but it was more than an issue of browser with a difficult time to run 50+ tabs.
Also: I always install these 5 free apps on every Windows PC – here they are necessary.
I am worried that not every Windows app will work on this system. Remember, it is a Windows Arm-compatible computer, and everything will not be completely customized, but things have come a long way since the release of these processors last year. I did not experience any major issues with any third party apps like Google Chrome, Steam and Dissord. Always be a strange app that is not compatible, however, be aware of it.
ZDNET purchase advice
HP has several different configurations of OmnibuC 5. Currently, 32 GB configuration Hp omnibuq 5 Available for $ 899 on HP’s website with 2K OLED touchscreen.
If you do not need such a powerful tool and something more inexpensive, then buy the best 16GB configuration For $ 549. A very competitive price for an OLED and 512GB SSD.
Unexpectedly, Apple’s M4 MacBook is a solid option for Air OmNIBOOK 5 and is currently $ 100 cheaper. If you like to live on Windows 11, then another PC I suggest Del Inspiron 14 PlusWhich is on sale on the best purchase for 42% discount.
