I took this 360 -degree camera around the world – why is it still the most versatile gear

Insta360 x5 My favorite travel camera. I love it for its versatility, ease of use and user friendly app. It is more expensive than its predecessor, but provides better video quality, changed lens, better battery backup, and more. I started using this 360-degree action camera in May, and within three months, it earned a permanent space in my travel backpack. It is now on sale for Labor Day.

Ease of use surprised me

When I got the Insta360 X5, I went with low expectations, as most action cameras have an impressive battery backup, there is poor performance in anything less than bright sunlight, or it is really difficult to edit footage.

The final 360-degree action camera I used was Gopro Max, and when I have spent the holiday time with new GOPRO Hero 13 Black and other Insta360 cameras such as GO 3S and Ace Pro, they have ease of X5’s versatility and use.

I recorded most of my footage in Instapram mode (because I wanted to try new mode), which shoots a standard video in Q360-Digry footage as well as 5.7k+ or 5.7k, while you automatically track you.

Thanks to the upgraded 1/1.28-inch sensor (more than 1/2-inch sensor on X4), the footage looks sharp, filled with details, and the 360-degree is great for the camera. If you are with a group of people then recording in 360-degree video mode is a better idea.

Insta360 X5 can shoot 8k 30 FPS and 5.7k 60 FPS at a high end. He said, an 8K 360-degree footage means 4K resolution in-app video on your phone. I compared some shots to The Last-Jen X4, and they were much better. This offers more details in clouds and gives excellent dynamic range in the blue sky that looks more pleasing. It can also record HDR footage without overproving your video (8-bit and BT 709 color space instead of DCI-P3).

While I can get a better quality video on an insta360 Ace Pro 2, X5 gives me flexibility to just turn on the camera and later frame my shot – without losing the picture quality, which was not possible in the past. In addition, it records clear audio, until there is strong wind.

The entire editing process is also very comfortable. I can simply connect the X5 to my phone, transfer footage within the app, and change a standard looking video with a pinch-out action in a 360-degree footage. With just a few swipes and pinch, I can frame the shot to give me an attitude that I could never imagine. The underlying infections and effects make my action camera more easier than ever to edit footage.

Insta360 X5 is small and convenient to carry

Insta360 X5 is not the smallest action camera in the vicinity. This is much larger than the choice of Gopro Hero 4K or Insta360 Go 3s. However, for a 360 camera, it is still easy to carry. The slim form factor helps me easily store one of the small pockets of my bag. It now also supports lens replacement. So if you are meant to break your Insta360 X5 lens, you can replace it with a $ 30 replacement kit – instead of replacing the entire camera.

I recommend buying an additional battery because a single cell will not do you for the whole day. Unfortunately, the Insta360 X4 battery is not compatible with the X5, so no old battery around will work. Oh, and the new Insta360 action camera is now compatible with Gopro-Style Mount, thanks to the new magnetic quick-relief system.

Overall, I love this camera to the sharpness of a regular action camera and the ability to offer a 360-degree footage without losing the dynamic range. From obtaining incredible event shots in Galaxy, to make my Vietnam Boat ride memorable, the Insta 360 X5 has improved everything. If you are in the market for 360 action cameras, you should definitely consider X5.
