If you recall it among other big news items last week, Google sent a phone camera with a zoom feature that uses generative AI. This is correct: Pixel 10 Pro camera comes with AI inside the app that otherwise cleans the dirty digital zoom images that occur up to 100x all the way. What a photo is a sadness, but it is also very good-at least it seems. But it is difficult to ensure that the thing you are taking is that when it is miles away, it should be visible. So I brought to a ringer for some side-by-side comparison: Nikon coolpix p1100,
For those unfamiliar people, the P1100 is a huge ultrazom camera with a range equal to 24–3000 mm. When you have optics, you do not need to do any upskaling like Pixel 10 Pro. The camera applies some noise decrease, sharp and color adjustment, of course. But it’s not completely Estimate What should any individual pixel look look, as it had some information to start.
Digital zoom like Pixel 10 Pro Use is a different story. Without the benefits of optical magnification, one image leaves a lot of intervals to fill in 10 or 20 or 100 times. The algorithm can guess very well, but they are just: estimates. The Pro Race Zoom of Pixel 10 Pro makes those estimates with the help of generic AI. And if we are taking AI zoom photos, what is the better subject to start compared to the moon?

It is asking a lot of smartphone cameras to take a picture of the moon, and Google is not the first phone manufacturer to bring AI into the fight. The Pro Race Zoom version definitely resembles the moon, but AI gives it a strange spoggy texture that does not look quite right-especially comparing it to the version of the P1100.

Up -images Lumen fieldThe outer was taken from an ignoring at the downtown Seattle near Pike Place Market, a mile. It was a staining, storm day, so apologies for drab images, but they give a better idea about where Pro Race Zoom Excel and where it falls down. The AI model creates numbers on readable signals and cleanses the edges really well, but it basically wires metal cladding on the edge of the building, such as a highly aggressive noise. And once again, AI does not know what to do with writing.

These photos of the Starbucks headquarters, one mile to the south of Lumen, were taken from the same point of view. The AI version seems fine on a small screen, but if you look closely you can see that it turns some lamps into windows and gives the clock a little salvador dali on the tower.

On a sunny day I pointed both cameras on another Seattle Landmark. I was about three miles away from the space needle and faced another enemy of long distance photography: Heat Hauz. AI did not know what to do with perverted lines and made Tim Burton’s The Space Needle instead. But you can see that the P1100 was not much better, what with all the warm environment between the lens and the subject.

Heat hazes are clearly a problem in this situation. I was not far from the aircraft in the Boeing field in the images above, but there was a very hot asphalt between me and the aircraft that I was building heat waves. But this is clearly where AI shines. In fact, it can be yours Only Options if you are trying to correct for something as difficult as heat fog.
This is where everything becomes complicated
This is the place where everything becomes complicated. Generative AI has now been present in the photo editing tool over the years, and it is extremely useful for things like removing noise from the photo taken with an old DSLR. Heat hazes is a single naster problem; Random deformities and waves are all impossible to be correct with traditional digital photo editing tools. Landscape and Wildlife are photographers Already hugging AI editing tools This can do things that your regular lighter sliders can only dream.
Is it different when the AI camera is inside the app, not only in professional image editor you will use after this fact? Absolutely. Does the Pro Race Zoom find things very wrong? Also yes. But this has been an enlightened exercise, and I don’t think it’s last when we will hear about generic AI that is being used in the image capture tool itself.
