even the realities Unveiled its new smart glasses with several surprises and major upgrades to push the product forward. The biggest surprise was that the company not only unveiled Even the G2 Display Smart Glasses but also announced Even the R1 smart ring Which doubles as a control device for the glasses.
I’ve been testing both the Even G2 and Even R1 since late October, when Even Realty held a small press event in New York to showcase both products for journalists.

Still, since not all features have been fully refined or functional yet, I’ll call this article a first impressions story rather than a full product review.
And I won’t hide the edge here.
I’ve tried all the smart glasses
I consider the Even G2 to be the most comfortable and most fashionable set of smart glasses I’ve tried. I have tried almost all the major products of Meta including all the models. And because of the focus on privacy in the Even G2 – with no cameras or speakers – they’re also the only smart glasses I’d be comfortable wearing at all times of the day.
At the same price as the first-generation product at $599, the Even G2 glasses are a product that’s priced more like a premium pair of glasses than a tech gadget.

The main feature of the Even Reality glasses is a bright, monochrome green screen display in both eyes that enables several key features including live translation, phone notifications, step-by-step navigation, quick notes, AI-based conversation enhancement, and a basic AI chatbot.
But, by far, the best and coolest feature these glasses have is the teleprompter. It allows you to easily upload scripts from standard text files and uses AI to track your progress as you speak the script, automatically moving the text forward. It works incredibly well.
Even a recap of the G1 smart glasses
Against all odds, even Realme achieved a viral hit with its even G1 smart glasses released in 2024. These were especially championed by YouTubers, influencers, and content creators, who loved the glasses almost exclusively because of the teleprompter feature.
And beyond YouTubers, the first generation Even Reality glasses were made famous by prominent public figures who unabashedly used them while giving public speeches. This included government ministers from France and the UAE, on-air TV hosts, people who give TED Talks, and CEOs RJ Scaringe of Rivian and Palmer Luckey of Anduril.
I used the teleprompter feature on the Even G1 glasses to give my opening remarks before AI keynote discussions I hosted. To be fair, not all of the features on Even Realty’s Glass are as polished as a teleprompter. Many reviewers of the first generation glasses criticized the software experience, saying it was buggy, sometimes not intuitive, and not always easy to navigate. I used the Even G1 glasses in 2025 for several months and found the evaluation to be pretty accurate.
Finding things on the menu can be difficult; Some features like navigation felt incomplete and the 8-bit style of the interface didn’t always make it feel like a cutting-edge product.

That said, my overall impression of the Even G1 glasses was very positive. I enjoyed wearing them more than any other smart glasses I’ve used so far, mainly because of the look and feel of the product. Since they’re comfortable, stylish, and their cameras aren’t directed toward the world, they don’t make you feel (reasonably) self-conscious about wearing them in any setting.
So, how about the Sam G2 specs?
Testing Sum G2 Smart Glasses
The biggest and most significant upgrade is in the display itself – it’s 75% larger and nearly 30% brighter, which unlocks a number of capabilities and improvements. Of course, the most notable one for me was the teleprompter. Over the course of a few weeks, I used the teleprompter feature on stage for keynotes using an Even G1 and Even G2. The Even G2 display was even clearer to see and follow – which gave me a little more freedom to move around more naturally than when using the glasses on stage.

The larger display also improves navigation convenience (and has even upgraded the software experience). The larger display also comes in handy for the language translation feature, as translations only appear as text on the screen, as the glasses don’t have speakers.
Reality has even launched a new feature in the G2 Glasses called Converse. This allows you to turn on AI during a real-world conversation, so that the glasses can follow what is being said, and display information on key words and topics being discussed, and potentially summarize the conversation later. This is similar to a new feature called Live AI on the Meta Ray-Ban Display Glasses.
As for these new and improved features in the eOne G2 Glass, I would like to get more use out of them and allow eOne Realities to do some software updates before considering the usefulness of features other than the teleprompter.

But the G2 glasses themselves are lighter (36 grams compared to 52 grams for the Meta Ray-Ban Gen 2 and 69 grams for the Meta Ray-Ban Display), the battery easily lasts 1-2 days on a single charge (compared to 2-8 hours for various Meta products), and they can take a wider range of prescription lenses from -12 to +12 (compared to -4 to +4 for the Meta Ray-Ban Display). Are.
With the G2, Even Realities kept the two main styles – a round and a square – but added an additional green hue to its gray and brown colors from the G1 lineup. The company has also made a slight change to the original round-style glasses by giving the top of the circle a flat edge, which makes the G2 style even more unique.
The Even G2 Display smart glasses come in two styles and three colors.

How does the R1 smart ring fit
The second major question regarding this new product focuses on the companion R1 smart ring. Even Realme has the right idea of what it’s trying to achieve here – providing an easier, more full-featured and more discreet way to navigate the heads-up display – but the execution still needs some work.
The ring is worn on the index finger of both hands, and then you use your thumb to tap, double-tap, and swipe up and down to navigate the interface on the glasses.
Even Realities also unveiled its R1 smart ring.

It took me a while to get used to the gestures of swiping around the G2 Glass using the R1 ring, and it became quite frustrating at times. I also had a lot of accidental swipes, which activated the glasses when I didn’t intend to, and performed actions I didn’t intend to.
You can use the G2 glasses without the R1 ring and instead use the touch pad on the end of the arms on the glasses. But I understand what Even Realities is trying to do, because when Ring works well, it’s a subtler and more powerful way to navigate. Still, when I used the G2 glasses to present on stage with the teleprompter feature on, I kept the Ring in my pocket so I wouldn’t have any accidental swipes or interface mishaps.

Furthermore, the R1 is not just an interface device for glasses. It also works as a smart ring to track your health and activity, like smart rings from Oura, Samsung and others. And the new G2 visual interface includes easy access to your health metrics.
However, in my testing, the smart ring health features were still quite poor, and so I’ll wait for Even Realities to finish up and polish the software before determining how well it’s implemented. That said, I have some confidence that the company can do this well, because the founder and CEO, Will Wang, previously worked on the Apple Watch team.
I’m really curious to see how the R1’s function evolves with software updates and refinements over time.
The R1 Smart Ring costs $249 on top of the $599 for the Even G2 glasses, so this pair will cost $848 — that’s more expensive than the $799 Meta Ray-Ban Display Glasses, which come with a neural band and a full-color display in one eye. However, if you purchase the R1 with the G2 at launch, you’ll get 50% off, or $125 off, bringing the total cost of the pair to $725 at launch.

even realities vs meta
And this brings us to the David-and-Goliath factor. Meta is currently a fugitive Market leader in the smart glasses sector with 70% market shareMeta is a global company with more than 75,000 employees and a $1,5 trillion market cap, EvenReality has about 200 employees and Wang told me it’s mainly split between two locations, the technology team in China and the glasses design team in Switzerland,
Nevertheless, Wang embraces the underdog role. He told me he believes Even Realities can disrupt the smart glasses market by being narrowly focused, having such a strong stance on privacy, and designing its own glasses with style at the forefront.
My Sum G2 Buying Advice
When it comes to buying advice, I recommend the G2 to two types of buyers – and since many features are still being polished, this recommendation may expand over time. However, for now, I would recommend the Even G2 to individuals who frequently give presentations, public speeches, and other eloquent remarks, and would appreciate a teleprompter that accompanies them wherever they are, in any setting.
This remains the best and most sophisticated feature in the Even 2 Display smart glasses. For these buyers, I would recommend purchasing the G2 without the R1 smart ring for now.
I would recommend it to the second type of buyer who wants to have an AI chatbot at the ready at all times, but who is also deeply concerned about privacy and doesn’t want to — or can’t — wear camera glasses in the many settings they move around in throughout the day. For these buyers, I would also recommend adding the R1 Smart Ring as it is very discreet and I’m confident the usability will improve over time.
Ultimately, the style, comfort, battery life, and lack of cameras make it Even G2 specs For now, I consider these to be the only smart glasses practical for all-day wear.
