T-Mobile will give you a free iPhone 17, no trade-in required – here’s how to get it

    Kerry Wan/ZDNET

If you’ve been holding off on upgrading to the iPhone 17 while waiting for the best offer, consider this T-Mobile deal. Now, when you bring up your number and open a new line on T-Mobile’s Experience Beyond plan, you can Include an iPhone 17 – No trade-in necessary. This is an $830 value.

Too: T-Mobile will give you 4 free iPhone 17 right now – here’s how it works

With the Experience Beyond plan, you’ll pay $100 per month for one line (the price per line goes down the more you add). The monthly price is locked for five years. You’ll also get some extra perks, like Netflix (with ads) and Hulu included, unlimited mobile hotspot, and Wi-Fi with full in-flight texting and streaming when available.

As is the case with most “free” phone deals, you’ll have to pay the tax on the full price of the phone, plus a one-time $35 device connection fee and your first monthly $100 fee for service. The remaining price of the phone will be paid through 24 monthly bill credits. However, if you cancel before the 24 months are up, you’ll have to pay the remaining price of the phone. The bill credit also expires if you pay off your phone early.

Other terms: You must enroll in AutoPay, port your number from an eligible carrier (AT&T, Verizon, Claro, USCellular, Xfinity, Spectrum and Liberty PR only), and add a new line. Good credit is also required. If you’ve canceled lines in the last 90 days, you may need to reactivate them first.

If you’re already a T-Mobile customer, you can still take advantage of this deal by switching to Go5G Next.

don’t miss it t-mobile deal While it lasts, you get an iPhone 17 with the Experience Beyond plan.

    How I evaluated this deal

Although this phone deal comes with caveats, it’s still pretty good, considering you don’t pay upfront for the price of the phone, just taxes, activation fee, and monthly service. If you’ve been looking to switch to T-Mobile and upgrade to the iPhone 17, now is a great time to do so.
