Do not tell your colleagues, but I sometimes turn off my camera and march on the spot during my meetings. I had one of the best walkingpad treadmills, but since my son was born, it is not safe for the treadmill in the house, even if he is folded.
I really remember walking while working, but I have found this simple way to take more steps in my work day – walk during meetings.
Today, I turned off my camera and mike and popped up with this 20-minute fat-burning step workout YouTube trainer Rick Bhullar (So with subtitles, I can still hear my meeting). Result? I took my steps and burnt 100 calories from my desk, and I Thinking My colleagues were not intelligent.
What is a walking workout?
Rick Bhullar’s workout is a 20 -minute speed walking workout that you can do from home with zero equipment. Think of those steps aerobics classes that you did in eighties or nineties, and you are not far away.
Rick takes you through many steps pattern to advance your heart rate and legs. You will repeat these patterns throughout the workouts, and if you step on time with Rick, you will see the step counters going up below the screen.
As Rick Highlights in the video, if you are wearing one of the best fitness trackers, your steps may be slightly lower than the noted on the screen. All fitness trackers count the steps from your hand swings, and as you are not “normally” and can move with your hands on your hips, the number is likely to be different.
I wore my Apple Watch 10 for this workout, and my watch predicted that I went at a distance of 1.09 miles, the average speed of 19.22 minutes. This is slightly slower than my average walking speed because I have power with my dog in tow, but it felt the right to workout.
My only advice – if you are in a shared flat, you may want to think about your neighbors. My partner asked me, asking me that I was jumping (I was not, the whole workout is less impact), so if you are an early resection and other people in the house are probably not to do so.
This workout is suitable for all fitness levels – if you are a complete beginner, you can proceed slower than Rick, or need to take a break, but it’s perfectly fine.

what are the benefits?
The clear advantage of this workout is that you will increase your step count without leaving home – if you work, or when your child wants to nap, it is perfect. It is also a low-effect, so you are not adding extra stress on your joints, making it suitable for all fitness levels, or even as active recovery.
Rick brands it as a “fat-burning” workout, and when you cannot reduce the fat on the body, you will be in the fat-catching heart rate area. This usually means that you are working on 50–70% of your maximum heart rate, and your body uses fat for fuel.
I could still have a conversation and talk to my colleagues during my meeting, and I would use it as a way to create fitness without the weight of HIIT training or running.
For me, exercise is about endorphins; This workout left me with a smile on my face! I love Rick’s energy and enthusiasm, and when the steps felt foreigner at first, I was doing side-steping and to the end like a supporter.
What are you waiting for? Turn off your camera and give it once.
