Google launched just an AI-Investigated Duoolingo option

Thanks to some smart (and aggressive) marketing, Duolingo has cement himself as one of the most popular language learning apps in the world. He said, it is not without competition: There are lots of options to considerAnd if you are telling about the plans of Duoolingo to phase your contract workers in favor of using AI, then you must be looking at them.

Now there is a new contestant for the crown of Duo, but it is definitely not a replacement for AI-Avers. It is far from a Dalit person, given that the service does not come from anyone other than Google. Yesterday, the company announced the experience of learning a new AI-operated language, which calls it Small language lessonIt is not an app, but an experiment in Google Labs that provides a handful of lessons and small doses of immersion for different languages.

It is mentioned here how the small language lessons of Google work in the present.

Using Google’s Duoolingo option

To start, head Small language text site of Google LabsAnd sign in with your Google account. You will need to agree to a pop-up that warns you that this feature is an early experiment that uses generic AI, and may not always be accurate-normally a hallmark defect of AI tools.

Google is offering 22 language options (including regional dialects for specific languages). These include:

Once you get inside, there are three different types of lessons – “or use”, as Google calls them. “Use Number. 001” “Tiny Lesson”, which helps you with words, phrases and grammar that you can dream. You choose the language, then type a “purpose or subject” in the text field provided. If you can’t think of anything, you can use one of the auto-generated themes provided by Google, such as “taking a taxi,” “scuba diving” or “go to the first date.” (Or taking a taxi to dive on its first date.)

I went with Portuguese (Portugal) and “taking taxi”. I hit YieldAnd Tiny Lesson offered me three categories to work: Vocabulary, which lists various words that I can use (“taxi” or “taxi driver” “o taxi” or “o taxi” for “O Culture”); The phrase, such as “pod Chamar Um Taksi, Por Ehsan?” “Can you say a taxi, please?” And tips, such as to use “Ter Q”, to explain that I need to go somewhere. Any Portuguese words and phrases have a speaker option to click to hear the appropriate pronunciation.

“Experiment No. 002” is “Slang Hang”, which aims to teach you slang and expression from areas you are learning. For entertainment, I asked it to run it with US English for this one. The slang hang generates a story between two people, and, after a small base, generates a conversation between them how they can naturally talk to each other. The expressions and slang are outlined, and, again, you can click on the speaker icon to loudly speak them.

One side of the conversation arises at a time, and you press the space bar to move forward on the next person’s punishment. If you want a new story completely, you can hit the refresh icon, or click on X to completely get out. (Slang Hang is currently missing support for Arabic, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese (Portugal), and Turkey.)

Finally, “experiment no. 003,” or “Word Cam”. This feature allows you to take and share a photo with the web app to learn how to talk about your environment. It works best on smartphones or tablets, because otherwise you will only have the front-facing camera of your computer to work.

Once you provide access to your camera, snap a picture of your surroundings. Word cam then analyzes the image, exposes specific elements, and labeled them with words in the target language. For example, I took a picture of the street corner, and Word Cam labeled the car as “O Action,” The Grass “as a relaying,” and Bush as “urbsto”. You can tap each word to draw a full page about the word in question, as well as how you can use it in different sentences and scenarios.

Can you compete with small language lessons Duulingo?

Little language lessons are a clean idea, and I am eager to experiment further with it. Will it get out of Duulingo? I doubt But this language provides a more casual and personal approach to learning, as opposite to the more structured lessons of Duoolingo. I like that I can choose what I want to know, especially, such as my view, language acquisition is most effective when you are learning words and phrases that you actively use on daily basis.

The main concern is learning wrong words, which can be an issue if AI decides to hail a wrong translation. This is the place where human intervention would be useful: If lessons were generated by people and facts-people, you will feel a little more in accepting the information on the inscribed price. With these lessons, however, I think I have to check everything that tells me.
