My wife and I like to travel to other countries, but we always face a familiar obstacle – how to learn the language well to interact with people. We have tried to take the language lesson, yet we always participate in situations where we cannot find the right words to express ourselves. Now, Google has launched a trio of translation devices that can help remove this barrier.

Launched on Tuesday Google Labs experiment“Little Language Lesson” is designed to help you in specific situations, especially when you are traveling in a foreign country. Three tools operate by Gemini AI of Google to provide the correct word and phrase, when you need them.
Tiny lesson
The first experiment is number 1, which is known as Tiny lesson. It promises to provide you with relevant vocabulary, phrase and grammar tips for any situation. After selecting the target language, describe the action or purpose for which you want help. For example, you can present phrases such as “Toilet Findroom,” “Taxi,” or “I need a doctor”.

In response, Google shows translations for each main words in the phrase, the entire phrase and many variations. When I presented the phrase “I need a doctor,” It “doctor,” translated the phrase word, and alternative phrases such as “I don’t feel well” and “Is the closest hospital?” You will not only see the translation, but will also listen to them by selecting the audio icon.
Google also suggests about how to express himself keeping in mind its phrase. You will learn which words and phrases to use and to avoid people. The goal is to find out how to express yourself the best to ensure that you have understood.

For this skill, you are capable of choosing one of the various languages including Arabic, Chinese, English, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish and Turkey. You can choose specific areas, such as the UK or Australia for English, Hong Kong or Taiwan for Chinese, and France or Canada for French.
Slang hang
The next experiment in the list is number 2, called Slang Hang. Here, the lesson tries to teach you general manifestations, idioms and regional slang based on AI-related interaction between native speakers. For this, if necessary, choose the target language and specific dialect.

In response, the equipment describes a landscape that involves two people. AI then shows you what a person says in the view of the scene. Every time you press the spacebar or tap on a link on the page, the interaction bounces from one person to another. And each piece of dialogue contains slang and popular expressions to help local idioms learn.

Here, you can also choose audio icons to speak each person. This device supports Chinese, English, French, German, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish.
Word cam
Finally, the experiment number 3 is called the word cam. This inspires you to snap a photo of your surroundings to learn how to translate objects into the photo. On your phone, take a picture of an area with the items you want to check.
The tool then identifies each item in the photo with the name in both the source and target languages. Tap on a specific item in the picture, and the Google target describes it using various adjectives translated into the language. Each word also includes an entire sentence that you can talk to another person about the item.

With other devices, you are able to hear the translation of each word and sentence. Word cam also handles similar languages supported by small text.
My experience
Each of the three devices seemed to give a useful translation, at least as far as I can tell. Since I am not fluent in any language, I cannot fast for the accuracy of translations.
Too: I tested this $ 700AI device that can translate 40 languages in real time
On the negative side, I went into a constant mess. Click or tap on the audio icon to listen to translation failed to work properly. Sometimes I listen to translation, but most times, I get an error that tells me to recover.
There are some disadvantages with short language lessons. First, they are an early stage experiment, more designed for developers. Second, they rely on generic AI, which can be incredible. For those reasons, translations cannot always be accurate or complete. To be on the safe side, you would like to check the results with other sources.
Too: Google’s viral AI podcast tool can now chat in more than 50 languages and completed my Spanish test
Nevertheless, the next time you need to talk with someone in a different language, you may want to try small language lessons. And hopefully, the other person will understand whether AI does not get it 100% correct.
