Android users are getting a big update on how they choose and share photos and videos. Google is going to add a multi-unnecessary search bar to its photo picker, and finally, a date-based browsing tool will also be released. It will be easy to find specific files to share with these changes.
The main task of photo picker is to give users a safe and easy way to choose photos, GIFs and videos to share with apps. Unlike the older methods, which sometimes transport the application to the user’s entire media library, the photo picker only focuses on privacy by allowing users to share what they choose. This careful control is very safe to use regularly and reduces the opportunity that apps can watch private photos or videos without permission.
Even though the photo picker is great for privacy, but it remembers some characteristics that you will expect from a gallery app. Android is a large OS, but it seems that Google takes some time to add basic features to its app. For example, the image gallery recently gained the ability to flip images.
I would say that the biggest problem with the image picker was a discovery bar deficiency, which is a very large monitoring. This forced you to scroll through hundreds or even thousands of images and videos to find a specific file. While the photo was added to the cloud media earlier last year, the search facility was not yet.
It is being rolled out, so you can’t see it yet. The search bar will be placed on top, above the “photo” and “collection” tab. The search will allow you to see through both your local and cloud-intelligent media, so there is no need to save every image on your phone. It seems that there will be previous discoveries under the bar to help you find any images you often used.

AI search of Google Photo is back – how to close it
You do not need to use it.
Right now, the search feature looks quite simple. You do not need to worry about having AI that responds to a query about your photo search instead of just looking for photos. However, I would expect Gemini that eventually be added. In this case, I think it will help a lot because you can ask Gemini to find a picture in your gallery based on your details. Nevertheless, for now, you can type in a simple detail, and it will help you get the right image.
With the search bar, Google is also working on a date scrubber. Although it is no images of how this photo will look in the picker yet, it will probably act like a date scrubber in Google Photo or any other app. This will probably allow you to jump quickly into the photo from a certain month or even last year.
For now, it may take some time to get everyone. However, expect update of your Google Photo Picker app soon.
