-
Old devices will not get Macos 27, but can expect a 3 -year security update.
Another Macos update is coming, and it is a large. Not only the All-Noo McOS 26 Taho is providing a fully re-designed user experience, but it also brings bad news to people with Intel-based Mac.
During Apple’s Big WWDC event this week, the company unveiled Macos 26 Tahoe, iOS 26, iPados 26, and more. The Apple version has been transferred from numbers in years, which means that MACOS will not be 19. During the announcement, Apple had a lot to say about all the new Macos 26 features, but in the fine print (and during its platform State of the Union event), the company confirmed that it is the road for most machines released before 2020, and the end for the Intel-based Mac.

How to check which CPU your Mac uses
What type of CPU is in your Mac?
To be more specific, if you have a compatible Intel-based Mac from 2019, you will get an update on Macos 26, but you Will not done Get Macos 27 next year. The company phased out the Intel chipsets starting in 2020 with the M1 chip, and now it is fully phasing out. Keep in mind that you will still get some updates for safety and maintenance, but this is the last major OS update.
Will my Intel Mac get Macos 26?
The latest McOS Taho is compatible with all MacBook Air and MacBook Pro models released in 2020 or new, as they run apple silicon like all M1, M2, etc., however, only selected models will get only updates if you have a machine powered by Intel processor. These include:
-
MacBook Pro (Intel, 16‑ inch, 2019)
-
MacBook Pro (13, inch, 2020, four Thunderbolt 3 port)
-
IMAC (2020 and later)
-
Mac Pro (2019 and later)
And while your Intel Mac will not get the update on MACOS 27 next year, it does not mean that the update will be completely closed. In a statement RuckusA spokesman for Apple said that models like Intel-based MacBook Pro 16-inch released in 2019 would receive security and maintenance updates for three years.
If you have not noticed, the upgrade in Macos 26 is already finishing support for some of Apple’s most popular but older machines. This is because Macos Taho does not support any Intel MacBook Air (only Pro model), and any person with Mac Mini is out of luck. Apple began using its own M1 chipset in 2020 Mac Mini, so this release no longer supports the old model.
On the bright side, people with a compatible Intel Mac will be happy with many changes. In addition to a clean new liquid glass software experience, you will enjoy the turbocharged spotlight, live activities and phone apps coming in your Mac, along with improving gaming, shortcuts, messaging, Apple intelligence and more. This is a big update, but unfortunately it will be the final one for many of us.
