Various types of operating systems updated for Apple products arrived in iOS including iOS 18.5, Watches 11.5 and MACOS 15.5 this week. Apple TVS also found an update with TVOS 18.5 – an otherwise minor release that still adds an increase for the Dolby Atomos Slouround Sound.
For most parts, TVOS 18.5 updates will not change your Apple TV experience. Some insects are being fixed, but a big new feature will increase the surround sound playback.
“This update adds support for speakers on airplay or Bluetooth to synchronize the Dolby Atomos playback,” reads the Apple release notes.
You can access this tool by visiting Settings – Video and Audio – Wireless Audio Sink.
Since the TVOS 13, which began in 2019, you are capable of sinking to deal with the audio that unheard your wireless speaker setup. But until this week, this feature did not support Dolby Atomos. Previously, any ATMOS problems required a workaround.
Now, if you follow the wireless syncing process, which uses your iPhone as a microphone to fix the audio sink issues, then you should be able to fix any dolby atomos syncing problems.
This will be particularly helpful for those whose setup includes devices that cannot support Atmos before TV.
