- Apple allegedly working on a new chip smart glasses, which should be ready in 2027
- This first smart glasses from Apple will probably take to Ray-Ban Meta Glass
- The company is reportedly still working on a more advanced pair
Apple is rumored to work on smart glasses that feels forever, and it makes sense that this wearable gadget will be lighter with a slimmer all-around design compared to the Apple Vision Pro and, expected, it will also be lighter on the wallet.
A new report from Mark Gurman of Bloomberg Description is that cupertino-based tech giants are progressing on a chip that will give strength to “its first smart glasses”.
The report stated that the chip has ‘progressed’, which means that the internal work on smart glasses is being ramp and the production on the processor is scheduled to start by the end of 2027.
Now, the dates can move and change, but it will put these smart glass on the road to release in about two years.
These are not full AR glasses that have long been rumored, though; Instead, the report states that these smart glasses will “compete with the popular ray-ban glasses” from Meta. Meta Ray-Bains are a hit for the company, which descend into construction similar to classic glasses. They allow photos or videos to take a phone or video and provide easy access to Meta AI auxiliary.
Apple has an exact feature set for these smart glasses that will not overlay the world around you, although not yet set, although. According to the report, “Apple is currently searching for non-AR glasses that use cameras to scan the surrounding environment and rely on AI to help users.”
It looks similar to the meta ray-ban and also uses Google or Chatgpt to identify the iPhone 16 lineup-and also for visual intelligence on the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max. Hopefully, by 2027, however, Apple Intelligence will be rolled out more widely, with AI-operated Siri in the hands of a lot of consumers on iPhone, iPad and MAC.
Given that this reported chip has been modeling after the SOC of Apple Watch, it is likely that these smart glasses will be paired with another device such as an iPhone, perhaps in a process similar to the installation of Apple Watch or AirPods.
However, Apple is not switching to focusing on creating smart glasses only without AR. The report states that this new model and earlier rumors are in a development, and that Tim Cook really wants to defeat Meta in the world of smart glasses.
Offer more than one model offer when the time comes for a release will be an easy way to attract more consumers, especially if it reduces the entry value.
Nevertheless, we are far away at Apple’s rumor smart glasses, as two years put them in early 2027, but I am sure we will see a lot of rumors and reports.
More immediate future, however, Apple’s World Wide Developers Conference will close on June 9, 2025, and the company should share more about its next generation platforms and large -scale Apple Intelligence. Who knows, we can also get more adequate updates for vision Pro, which can indicate on future glasses.
