Arc resumed browsing for better – and it was clearly the problem

Jack Waln / Elis Betters Picaro / ZDNET

The browser company has announced that the arc browser is going on the way to the dodo and its place will be a new AI-centric browser called DIA.

The arch browser was first released in April 2022 and was seen as a fresh air breath by many. The UI was contrary to anything we use, tab management was a standout feature, and it developed a very emotional following. Essentially, the browser company created a web browser that was as beautiful as it was functional.

Unfortunately, even though there was a victory of arc design, the browser company is switching to a new AI-focused browser, which will not “separate” or “complex” as arch.

The browser company believes that it found many things wrong with arc. The big issue was that the company knew that the data had pointed to the arch not obtaining traction, but did not take action. Second, The company said That it should have hugged AI very quickly.

    The right step right?

The browser company was established on the simple idea that the browser is the most important software in our life and it was not paying proper attention. This is why it created a unique web browser that offered a different type of workflow (which was very effective) and even placed a premium on beauty. The arch was beautiful and filled with all kinds of amazing characteristics.

Too: 6 vague browser which are better than chrome

But according to a letter to ARC users, the company had a major problem:

After a few years of construction and shipping arch, we started walking in some things that we called the ‘novelty’ problem. A lot of people loved arc – if you are here, you can be one of them – and we will basically benefit from a day on continuous, organic development. But for most people, the arch was very different, to learn a lot of new things, for very little reward.

It was not until 2023 that it started looking at chat and perplexity threatening Google. According to the announcement, it was a fundamental change that could challenge the user’s behavior. By that end, the diya looked like the next step.

    But what about the arc?

You probably wondering: Did the browser company integrate arc in the DIA?

The company is hoping that, with the DIA, it can fix what it went wrong with the arc. Instead of innovation, intended to go with simplicity, and speed has become a foundation rather than a business. Both these points mean that the arch is out of the picture.

Also: Should you ever pay for Linux? 5 times I will do – and why

The uniqueness of the arc is the reason why I used it from the beginning. From the point of view of someone who really likes the arc, I am afraid that the lamp will air another clone of chromium with some extra AI. I hope I’m wrong.

The browser company is no longer actively developing arc. What to do with this amazing browser? I was hoping that this would be an open-source arch so that other people could pick up the mantle and continue construction on it. Unfortunately, the arch is not just a simple chromium fork, as it uses a custom infrastructure called ADK (Arc Development Kit), which is the “secret sauce” of the browser company. Adk is also the foundation of Dia, so there is no way that the company will open the browser.

    How to present your response

The browser company hopes that the arch finds a future, and by that end it would like to hear from users. You can email CEO Josh Miller What the company should do with arch to give him his feedback. If you enjoyed the browser, I am sure you have thoughts.
