Key takeaways of zdnet
- ASMI is based on Linux Debian and uses XFCE desktop.
- This makes it easier to switch between distribution layouts.
- You should not have Linux experience to enjoy this OS.
Confation Time: I do not pay attention to the XFCE desktop environment, which he pays attention. To date, there is a reason for this. I mainly focus on the desktop environment favorable for all types of users (from those who have tones of experience with Linux experience). The reason for this is that XFCE can often be slightly heavy for new users. It has a lot of configuration options … is addicted to most average users.
Of course, there are always different linux distribution that view XFCE differently, and some of them choose to make the desktop environment easier and appeal to new users. ASMI is such a distribution. I am not saying that ASMI offers the most elegant desktop on the market, because it is not.
But the Debian-based ASMI presents XFCE in such a way that not only makes it easy for the new user to find out, but it also provides four different layout options, so as a desktop you like that it does not require a degree in computer science.

For example, when you first log in to the desktop, you are congratulated by the ASMI settings window on the theme section, where you can choose like ASMI classic (single panel on the left), ASMI modern (top panel with Takht Dock), such as Windows (Bottom panel), or bulked (left panel). Each layout has its professionals and opposition, but I would suspect that most users will opt for layouts like Windows.
I have a couple of knots to take with the theme/layout configuration. Until you go through the change wallpaper app in the system tray, it seems that ASMI Linux contains only one desktop wallpaper image, which is better suited to dark themes than light. If, however, you pass through the change wallpaper app, you can ride a bicycle through various wallpapers. This is not as comfortable as developers can think, as most users are accustomed to right-click on desktop and choose something like change background. If you go to that route, you will only see one involved wallpaper.
Second, why do so many Linux distribution default for a dark theme? My only estimate is that many developers prefer dark themes, so the distribution followers believe that it is their biggest audience. It is time that Linux distribution maintainers begin to think outside the Gecki box and target the average user.
Although this cannot be clear, it is easy to replace your wallpaper.

Well, let’s migrate beyond the look of ASMI and talk about something else that takes this distribution over some others.
Flatpack and Snap
Both flatpack and snap are universal package manager. Outside the box, ASMI Linux is capable of flatpack and snap is disabled. Because ASMI Linux is based on Ubuntu, SNAP is not just a viable option; This is a very good option, and it makes it easier to enable both the delivery/so. If you open the ASMI settings app, you will see both the snap and flatpack listed in the left sidebar. Click on Snap and you will see that it is disabled by default.
ASMI enables/enables flatpacks and snaps an air.

Click on the enable and then click indicate, type your user password, and Snap will be installed and will be ready to use for you.
The ASMI Settings app also gives you quick and easy access to the drivers section, which allows you to install drivers for the choice of NVIDIA graphics cards, wine, MS Truetype fonts and steam clients. Click to enable any of those options (then apply and your user password).
Too: How to install Linux application from Command Line
You see, ASMI goes out of its way to simplify the experience for new users, and it is an important component, which is with more and more people adopting Linux.
In the same app, you can do such things:
- Install a separate web browser
- Install a different kernel
- Install GTK3 and GTK4 applications with a slider click
- See system restoration points
It is easy to install drivers and compatibility layers.

What is ASMI Linux for you?
The answer to this question boils some factors:
- Do you want a mild desktop environment suitable for old and new hardware?
- Do you want a desktop environment that provides 4 different layouts that can be easily chosen at any time?
- Do you want a desktop operating system based on Debian (one of the most stable OS on the planet)?
- Do you want an efficient and easy use desktop environment?
- Do you want the ability to easily install a different kernel?
If you have responded to “yes” for more than one of the above (or all above), ASMI Linux may be for you. From my perspective, the ideal ASMI Linux user is one who wants to stay away from windows and does not consider a minimum learning state bad. If you are so, download ASMI Linux 13 (which is based on Debian 13), burn it on a flash drive, and install it on the Windows 10 machine that is going to lose support. If you do this, however, please make sure that you first take your data back to the external drive, so you do not lose anything.

Asmi Linux There is a great option for those who are new to Linux, do not feel like learning some new tricks, and are ready to leave the windows (such as all cool children are doing these days).
