Asus is expected to launch its second -generation handheld gaming console, Rog Ally 2 in the coming weeks, and the design and specifics of the upcoming device are now revealed online. A leaked listing on an American regulator’s website showed that Asus Rog Ally 2 and the company’s Xbox-branded handheld (Kodenmed ‘Project Canean’) will be equipped with a 7-inch 120Hz display and AMD processor. Images of these handheld gaming console also suggest that they will facilitate a new external design that resembles a gaming controller.

Asus Rog Ally 2 may come in two variants

Indonesia’s SDPPI certification indicates a listing (via 91mobiles) on the website that Asus Rog is working on two models for Ally 2 and it will be available in a black (RC73x1) and White (RC73ya) models. These model numbers have also been mentioned in the listing on the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) website.

Videocardz was able to source sources Images Asus Rog Ally 2 from Report on Asus and MediaTek on the US FCC website. The black model has appearance as its white equivalent, but has a dedicated Xbox button. The white variant also has a button at one place, but it does not have the same logo.

The role of the dedicated Xbox button on the black variants is currently not clear, but recently a report stated that the Microsoft was working on improving the Windows handheld console with ‘Xbox experience’. Most handheld gaming consoles run on Windows, which, unlike the steamos of the valve, does not provide customized experience for small displays.

The black version of Rog Ally 2 will be allegedly equipped with the Octa-Core AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme (36W) processor as well as 64GB of LPDDR5X-8533 RAM. Meanwhile, white variants are called less powerful AMD Aireth Plus (20W) processor, and there is no word on the amount of RAM on this model.

Both models are equipped with a 7 -inch display with 120Hz fresh rates. The leaked images give us a good look on the screen on the black and white models, but they are closed, so we have no information about the software running on both console. Previous reports indicate that the project cannon device will “combine” Windows and Xbox experiences.

Last month, ASUS teased the arrival of a next-gene rog collaborative console with several hardware upgrades, but stopped to reveal if it was a Xbox branded device. At the time, the official Xbox account responded to the company’s post on X (East Twitter) with a meme, making speculation that the upcoming device would be a Xbox branded handheld.

It is worth noting that Asus is expected to unveil new devices in Computex 2025 in Taipei, and Rog Ally 2 (and Project Cannon Console) can make its debut with other upcoming equipment. Microsoft can also make a declaration around the same time, so it is worth keeping an eye on the news coming out of the Computex, which starts from May 20.
