The Borderlands 4 has a spontaneous open world, but your journey ends in the attack on the Timekeeper’s stronghold city, Dominion. Although not much knows about the most dense environment in the history of Borderlands, Gearbox gave me a directed tour of the city. While I cannot share everything I saw and heard, here is everything that I can say about this late-game zone.
Unlike the rest of the world of the borderlands 4, you do not have access to the dominion later in the game when you are on your march to face the timekeeper. The Moon of Pendora, using the event on the Alpis, can now enter dominance with the hope of facing the Walt Hunters timekeeper, which is now in the orbit of the Cyros.
Once inside the walls of the dominion, things are not as systematic as you will believe in the passion of the timekeeper. Various border 4 groups are around the neck of each other within the city border, and, without spoiling anything, the city is not enough that I expected; Timekeeper value order at any cost, but the city in which he makes its operation the basis seems strangely chaotic. As I see, Creative Director Graeme Timines give me a tour, the timekeeper taunts his Walt Hunter in their ear.
And despite knocking on the vault hunter door, he is doing his creation. “Even though we’re breaking, actually trying to find the timekeeper, he is still in his element,” says senior project manufacturer Anthony Nicolson. “He is still very calm and sure about his plan and what he has.”
But even if playing single, Walt Hunter Storming Dominion will not be alone. “Obviously, you make a lot of friends in your way, and they are all going to help and contribute in their time in the city,” says Timins.
During the game, players can see Dominion in a distance, similarly how Hyrule Castle always appears to the players in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. It is intentionally kept so that the players know about the goal, and it will maintain the mind in front. “As you are starting your journey in fadefields, you will see that tower in a distance,” global creative executive and former Sports information Editor-in-chief says Andrew Rainer. “This is really there. It’s not a skybox. It’s not in the background. (You) can fly out from here, back to the initial point of the game. This material always occurs.”

Dominion Borderlands 4, the main antagonist, serves as a housekeeper’s house
The design of the dominion seems to be appropriately like the culmination of the game, as in each region you went to the rest of the game, there is a dedicated biome within the city boundary. Additionally, the city is extremely dense and vertical oriented, with many places to climb and detect. “As you walk throughout the mission and pass through each of these different districts, you get more to the story that is developing and comes out,” says Nicolson.
Timins and Nicolson shared additional details about both Dominion and Timekeeper, which I would not disclose in the interest of maintaining surprise. However, Timines are excited to players to detect the region. “There are many important story moments that are in the city here,” they say. “This is the value of the content of the noter zone ‘noter’ noter. It is also filled with the most material. As a city, we preferred that it is actually feeling like an urban spread. We slammed a lot of places together which are stacked at the top of each other.”
The main story will give you a tour of different districts within the Dominion, which can be originally discovered, like the open world of Borderlands 4. But players can move away from the beaten path to experience additional material. Says Timins, “Tons are more side-missions located here.” “In fact, some of my individual favorite side-missions occur in the city. And they are very long. Dominion has some side-mission, in particular, a lot of chain missions, which you spend a lot of time with some of these NPCs, and some relationships that you really make in side-minds in the city, which are for me-“
There were a lot of details to cover the surrounding dominion, but I stopped them from this story to escape the spiiler. This is enough to say, with environmental story telling some of your prior perceptions will be shattered, which you can come to the dominion for the first time. If you are itchy for the Storm Dominion and take the timekeeper down, you don’t have much time to wait, as the borderland comes on 4 September.
