Brave has a new device called “Cookiecrembler”, which uses a large language model (LLM) to detect cookie consent notices and then to detect community-operated reviews to block those who will not break the functionality of the site.
Brave browser has been blocking the cookie consent banner on all websites since 2022, but found that blocking the consent banner can cause website problems that severely disrupt the site’s purpose and degrade them.
“Extremely comprehensive or incorrect blocking can break the functionality of the essential website, from checkout flow to layout problems,” Bahadur says,
“We have faced several issues (broken scrolling, empty page) when a cookie consent notice block is indiscriminately applied.”
The cookiecrumbler uses AI to find websites using consent management platforms (CMPs) and reports them as issues in their GITHUB project. The suggestions of Kukiycromballer are reviewed manually before applying to avoid breaking the required site functionality.
The way the device works is briefly abused:
- Cracks the top websites using the back of the regional screen.
- The potential cookie loads the page with the puppet to find the notice.
- LLM passes them for classification and suggestion for fixing.
- Publishes the results of detection Github issues For community triaies and improvement.
Essentially, Kukiycromballer enables to detect and block the regional -conscious conscious cookie banners, by reducing false positivity and problems of the site.
Being a privacy-centric software, there are several digits about the announcement of the brave, how the operation of the Cookie Cucumbler does not reveal the sensitive details.
First, it is clarified that Kukiyamar runs perfectly on the backnd of the brave, not on the user’s browser, which means that no user data is included in its identification and analysis process.
Second, the equipment does not interact with real user sessions; Instead, it uses a proxy and automatic crawler to simulate browsing from various fields using public site lists such as tricks.
Ultimately, privacy protection is the main reason why Kukiycromballer is not currently baked in the brave browser, but instead used as a backnd tool for internal analysis instead.
Brave software says that Kukiycromballer will be integrated into the brave only after going through a complete privacy review that ensures that its operation follows the strict stance of software on user privacy.
Cookiecrumbaler Github throughIt can be used directly by other privacy tool developers, website auditor, adblock list maintainer, or even tech-service users who want to generate or improve their own filter rules.
