Brother is the previous major inkjet manufacturer who joins the cave and is involved in the refillable revolution, so I am eager to see how its first supertank printer pile up against the best ink tank printer. Of the two new models, brother DCP-T780DW is more expensive, aimed at home office or SMB (medium-sized business). It is a well-equipped all-in-one that is capable of printing duplexes through A4 or legally two input trays on any type of paper, or copies using its flatbed scanner and ADF (automated document feed).

To keep the price competitive, there is no touchscreen interface, Bluetooth or USB host port. These are all features that you will expect on a cartridge printer at this price, but the big attraction here is remarkably low TCO (total cost of ownership) in which the ink brother’s five bottles are putting in the box. It is enough for about 15,000 black and white pages or 5,000 colors.

The brother DCP-T580DW looks and feels like a compact and well-designed all-in-one, and unlike the strange brother DCP-T525W. The old Amazon-Axclusive model had its ink tanks that emerged on the edge later, while the new printers have its reservoirs originally integrated into a way that does not increase the footprint.

You access them through the front flap, so there is no need to open the entire machine to top up. The flap has clear windows so that you can easily see the level of the liquid. Brother’s designers have cheated slightly, using smaller volume tanks than their rivals, but the 48.8ml range still defeats any inkjet cartridge for capacity.

In other cases it is a familiar form factor, with a slightly good front paper tray, which is capable of holding 150 sheets legally in A4, letter or size. At the top is a flatbed scanner and a 4.5 cm color is applied on a tilt control panel surrounded by a normal array of the display button.

Power and USB cables are on the edge instead of the two port rear to connect, which may be more convenient or low depending on your setup. The brother is different from the brother’s other tank printer by incorporating the DCP-T780DW 20-sheet ADF, which adds only 3.4 cm to its height.

Ink tank printers are the most permanent way to print as they produce low ink and plastic waste, while all inkjets use less energy than lasers, so I am happy that brother’s packaging is also more durable. Instead of polystinine in cardboard cartons, there is more cardboard.

As a premium printer, in the brother’s first ink tank range, DCP-T780DW can only more than duplex prints and simplex scans. It also has an ADF to automatically copy twenty pages and two paper input piles.

The main tray can catch a useful 150 pages, while a multi-purpose tray in the rear provides an easy way to print one-closed jobs such as addressing an envelope. The rear tray, along with its flattery paper path, is capable of printing on heavy paper than the main tray, including cards up to 300 grams.

5GHz Wi-Fi, Plus Ethernet and USB ports are available for wireless connectivity. The top speed for black and white printing is quite sharp for an inkjet at 16ipm, while the color page emerges almost quickly at 15ipm. The maximum print resolution is 1,200 x 600DPI, which is given by 840 tube.

    Brother DCP-T580DW: Setup and Operation

The installation of brother DCP-T780DW should be a simple process, especially if you download free brother connect app. Just load some paper and turn on the printer’s display and to get hints on your smartphone. Filling the tank with ink is a quick and clean process. Like Epson, HP and Canon, the brother has made it possible to fill the four ink tank without spreading a drop.

Like other systems, bottles have the key to lips, so you cannot put in wrong ink. However, be sure to pour into the entire 48.8ml bottle. I made the mistake of filling half the tanks and putting half the entire bottles back to the box. Once their seals are broken, the bottles are leaked, even when you feel that you have spoiled the lids back tightly. I made a very colorful mess, but to be fair for brother, it was a case of user error.

Unlike HP Smart Tank 7001, there is no inbuilt Bluetooth to have an immediate relationship with your smartphone, so the setup process takes a little longer. I also found Brother’s ink bottles a little more clearly more clearly than the Fulproof Supertank System of Appson and Canon. In short, the brother’s system works fine.

    Brother DCP-T580DW: Performance

Brother DCP-T780DW worked just outside the box. The setup process included two test sheets to check ink delivery and nozzle alignment, and the two were present. All my test pages appeared immediately and with enlarged paper, smoke or jam cases and the results were properly different.

The black text on plain white paper looked crisp and size indicates two. However, the brother’s dye-based black pigment appears some gray than black color that uses other brands. It cannot look shiny or bold, but it is consistent and ink is not the spot when you run a finger on the page because it emerges.

The color page is more impressive for brother’s bright C/M/Y ink and has a large level of expansion resolution. Brother launched two tank printers in this series and this high-finished multifunction model gives quite sharp prints. This can only happen because these print heads are equipped with 840 ducts, while cheap T580 has only 420 ducts. Therefore, while their quoted maximum print resolution is exactly the same, the number of ducts applying ink drops is clearly an advantage.

Scanning single pages on platton and copying multiplication documents with ADF went away without a bottleneck during my tests and duplicate page looked loyal to the origin. There is no single pass two-side scanning, but still, it all works quite quickly, so I will suggest this printer for light photocopy duties.

    Brother DCP-T580DW: Consumer ingredients

The brother is bundling two bottles of black ink and three colors in the box, so those five bottles can print 5,000 color pages, or 15,000 black and white. This is very good, but it is less than HP, Epson, or Canon, which are offered with the same -priced tank printers. Brother’s little small ink bottles and tanks are the reason for this, but I think the difference is quite small which is not a deal-breaker.

    Brother DCP-T580DW: Maintenance

Brother DCP-T580DW Inc. Tank Printer during our review

Like all inkjet printers, brother DCP-T780DW is likely to dry and print badly or not at all if it is left unused for time. The problem is stopping the ink tube and the solution is flushing them with more ink. In a cartridge printer, you will ruin that ink, but at least tank printers use cheap ink. This printer has quite versatile maintenance options, which are with the choice of three flushing cycles of different strength, it depends on how your tubules are.

Brother DCP-T780DW is a perfectly equipped and well-built home office all-in-one, with decent all-round-round print quality to boot. Brother makes a lot of such cartridge printers, but this tank printer runs on cheap bottled ink and makes it a better investment.

The design is compact with four ink reservoirs, which is very neatly integrated, while the 20-sheet ADF on top adds a surprisingly slight height. Two paper input is another advantage, especially capable of handling 300 grams of card stock as a multipurpose tray on the rear.

I found it easy to use despite the lack of touchscreen, while the print quality with both documents and photos is above average. And the price of 20,000 pages involves sufficient ink, it looks like a reasonable price. Now that the brother has proved that this tank can make a printer, it works, let us hope that the rest of its inkjet line-ups eventually reflected so that we can keep the cartridges in history.
