Buying an Android smartwatch? I found one that is highly functional and affordable

    Mobvoi Ticwatch Pro 5 Enduro

    ZDNET Highlights

    • The Mobvoi TicWatch Pro 5 Enduro is available in Obsidian Black for $349 (but on sale for $157 at the time of writing).
    • This Google Wear OS smartwatch offers long battery life, dual-display technology, and a sapphire glass display.
    • The watch currently runs on Wear OS 3.5 and is available in one large size.

For the past few years, I’ve been switching between different Google and Samsung Galaxy Watch models to pair with my Android, because in my opinion, Google’s Wear OS is the best wearable experience out there. One feature of the smartwatch that I appreciated is the long-lasting battery, and one of the best in that category Mobvoi Ticwatch Pro 5 Enduro,

Also: The best smartwatches 2025: I wore these for weeks and found the perfect watch for your wrist

I’ve been running, rowing, biking, and sleeping with the TicWatch Pro 5 Enduro smartwatch for several months, and its marathon battery life solves my biggest problem with Wear OS smartwatches.

Best smartwatch deals of the week

Deals are selected by the CNET Group Commerce team, and may be unrelated to this article.

    charging once a week

Its massive 628mAh battery features a unique dual display design for low-power standby use. This equates to an advertised 90 hours – almost four days – of battery life in Smart mode and up to 45 days in Essential mode. Even better, just 30 minutes of fast charging provides up to two days of battery life.

Too: Got a Samsung Smartwatch? This 30-second fix will keep it running like new

When I run outside, I use Outdoor Running mode with GPS tracking enabled, and my consumption calculations indicate that the Pro 5 Enduro should provide up to 15 hours of GPS tracking. I usually run a few times per week (30-45 minutes each time) and row a few times on hydro while wearing a watch to track my 24/7 activity and sleep.

I’ve been charging the watch once weekly with this usage pattern, so four days or 90 hours of typical use seems accurate.

For comparison, the Google Pixel Watch 3 lasts through the second day, while the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro wears out on me before the third day is over. The TicWatch Pro 5 Enduro is the clear winner in terms of battery life, and if a long-lasting battery is your primary requirement, I can’t recommend this watch more.

The Snapdragon W5 Plus Gen 1 wearable platform contributes to impressive battery life and, despite currently running on Wear OS 3.5, will support a future upgrade to Wear OS 4. This caveat is worth noting, because, unfortunately, Mobvoi hasn’t demonstrated a track record of timely updates. Since Wear OS was released in late 2023, this new model should have launched with Wear OS 4 out of the box, let alone Wear OS 5.

Also: Why I recommend this Garmin model to most smartwatch users – especially at this price

    beyond battery life

The dual-display technology is highly useful with interactive and customizable ultra-low-power display options. You can choose from 18 background colors to highlight the always-on display, which is on the top layer of the watch and shows key metrics like the number of steps taken, heart rate, battery life, time and date.

In this dual-display mode, rotating the large rotating crown button brings up the full-display heart rate reading, blood oxygen level, and compass heading.

While working out, this ultra-low power display layer will glow in six colors that reflect your current heart rate zone. This feature is very useful to check at a glance what zone you are in without having to focus on small numbers in the middle of a workout. The mode also integrates with third parties like Strava and Nike Run Club with data like heart rate, speed, and elevation, along with an ultra-low power display.

Too: I tried the Apple Watch Ultra 3 for a week to find out which one should upgrade — this is my expert advice

The TicExercise app offers over 100 workout types with various metrics like recovery time, GPS tracking, speed, and VO2 max. Unfortunately, you can’t customize the data screen for different workouts. This may be fine for casual athletes, but I would have liked to see some basic optimization to prioritize the most important data. Thankfully, since this is a Wear OS watch, you can download third-party services like Strava to customize your experience.

Once your workout is complete, the TickHealth application provides detailed data about your performance and health metrics, such as daily and weekly goals, sleep details, heart rate history and more. TicHealth is one of the significant updates to this watch compared to the TicWatch Pro 5 model released in late 2023.

    other improvements

Other improvements to the Enduro model compared to the Pro 5 model include a redesigned rotary knob, the use of sapphire crystal glass on the display instead of Gorilla Glass, a larger and clearer user interface display, and third-party integration with the ultra-low-power display.

Too: I tested the Apple Watch Series 11 for a week – now my buying advice is here

Additionally, the TicWatch Pro 5 Enduro has over 7,000 watch faces available, and if you use the Timeshow app, the faces can be changed daily. The large 1.43-inch display supports all Wear OS apps, including Google Maps, Messages, Wallet, Keep Notes, and more. Phone calls and messaging work well through the connected phone, and the voice-to-text function also works flawlessly.

Pro 5 Enduro It measures 50.15 x 48 x 11.95 mm and weighs just 44.7 grams with its 7000 series aluminum and fiberglass nylon case. The sapphire crystal display is scratch resistant and the 24mm watch band is very comfortable with the handy quick-release pin. The watch is also quite durable with a 5 ATM rating and MIL-STD-810H certification.

Too: Samsung’s Latest Galaxy Watch 8 Turns Me On Again (And It’s Already on Sale)

The device includes a Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) for accurate tracking, and Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.2 provide easy connectivity to your phone and network. However, the watch does not have cellular capability.

    ZDNET’s shopping advice

If you’re looking for a Google Wear OS smartwatch with long battery life, Mobvoi Ticwatch Pro 5 Enduro Is your best option. The dual display offers some interesting use cases for the ultra-low power mode, and the watch’s app provides extensive data.

Too: I compared the best smartwatches from Google and Samsung – here’s how the Pixel stacks up

It has a more traditional watch form factor than the smaller and sleeker Google Pixel Watch 4, which makes for more robust experiences. However, it is a good looking watch with many customizable options.
