I am not a web designer, but by using Canva’s website builder and canva code features, I can design, build and publish functional and beautiful websites in some time. You can also, and all this can be done for free with Canva’s web-beding tool.
Canva’s website manufacturer is skilled and free
Canva has long been one of the various Adobe software as well as my Go-Two Design Tool. I always like Canva because it is accessible with a browser or mobile app, and has a lot of equipment and features under its free plan.
Although upgrading to Canva Pro is worth it for the features you get, the free version mostly works perfectly for my needs.
Starting a website design in Canva is easy as opening any other project. You can use prepared templates of canva or start with scratches with an empty page. The design templates are great to overhala the entire design process or even use them as an inspiration for their web design.
Canwa’s drag-end-drop style makes web design easier. It is accelerated to add more to your web design by integrating imagery, video, or animation by adding continuous pages or using the underlying tool of canva.
Canva’s website Builder first offered a one-page design in only one continuous scroll. But this now allows you to create a multi-page website with the web builder. This makes your website feel more premium than a one-page site.
When creating a website with canva, you can use canva so that it can be hosted for free, or you can pay for a separate domain. Free hosting from canva means that although you will find a unique and chosen URL domain, it is not fully adapable and still retains the name of Canva in the URL. Depending on your project, this may not be appropriate. There are options for adding your own domain – for which you usually have to pay.
Reuse canva web design in branding and other designs
If you are a canva pro user, you will be able to benefit from its resisant feature. This allows you to create a design for a purpose or in a shape and on a button tap or click, you can give it the shape for other purposes. It uses marketing design, social media, and is useful for adding your brand design to web, marketing, video, social and more.
While the average person probably does not benefit from it, if you are using canva for website construction, it possibly benefit you in any way, even taking aspects of your web design and it has to be shaped or filled for social media posts.
Any file you uploaded for your web design in Canva website builder is available for logging in your Canva account every time – along with free users – also for Pro Users. You can find your uploaded images or videos in other projects, as well as any designed property.
Canva Pro User can benefit from the brand kit facility of the user canva, which is in the same place for all branded assets, colors, fonts, images, and easy access. But free users can do the same, with just a few more buttons to find everything.
Having all your uploaded designs in a canva system helps your website look on-brand with other designs shared from the same project.

Professionals and Opposition to create a website with Canva’s website builder
Canva’s website builder designs are ideal for novices who want simplicity, but this may not be the best option if you want more design freedom.
Canva apps add more depth to my web designs
Although Canva itself offers great inherent facilities, you can also take advantage of many external canva apps such as time -counting clocks, AI generators, typeforms integration, and other aspects you will expect to find on websites.
I added a countdown timer to the Hero section of my Canva website. I was doubt about adding it earlier, assured that the timer would not do correctly. But my live canva website has been published in months, the timer is completely counting.
You may want to integrate the typing or jotform in your website to collect data, allowing your audience to contact you, or for other purposes. These apps can be applied neatly to your web design, and you can easily fit other design elements around them.
External Canva apps are also great to find imagery for your web page. For rapid loading, it will be best to use a vector or a web-or-friendly images. There are dozens of canva apps for stock imagery – such as Getty Images – Video Tools, Vctor Library, and many different AI image generators – such as logo makers, vector, image expanders, and more.

Canva code helps me design great web interfaces
In April 2025, Canva introduced the Canwa Code. This feature allows you to generate a website and other coded widgets and elements in Canva using the AI Text Prompt.
When I initially used this tool, I was disappointed because I could not edit the web design generated. But then I realized that it does a great job for inspiration instead of working with a vacant slate or one in many, which offers canva.
Using the text prompt, I can type what my website should be and for a basic or wide style guide how I want to see it. The Canva code creates a website in a few seconds, using the split-screen view of its generation as well as the web code. Once generated, however, the code disappears, being replaced by the website visuals generated.
With Prompt Engineering, I am able to fix the results. Canva offers a few version with each generation. I can be as detailed as I want, such as specifying a font name or hex color code, or I can edit my signals more vaguely and rely on canva’s AI with results.
Once generated, you can publish your new Canva website in the same way as using the first mentioned website builder. However, due to the editing limitations of the canva code, it is unlikely to the material, UX, or the entire project, will be completely functional or in fact you need it. The canva code unfortunately does not rely on the drag-end-drop nature found in the rest of the Canva.
Canva code is a major feature of canva, and I hope it blooms in a more interactive tool. For now, however, it works really well to imagine a web interface when my brain is very empty to it itself.
Canva code is still not correct
Although the Canva code can help creating some good websites quickly, and you can see the code generating because it does, you cannot currently reach the code to edit it yourself. This is a huge inspection for this great tool, because it means that you can only rely on the AI text prompt to edit your design.
I like the idea that the code generated from canva can be used as a starting point for my web design or other coded projects. This will be helpful to copy the code and paste it into a tool like Vscode, so I can edit HTML and CSS myself myself. By doing this, I will allow me to know more about the code organization and the expected visual results.
Unfortunately, after a bar coded design arises, the view of the code disappears in the abyss of the AI brain of the canva. You are left with only your text prompt – which you can engineer as much as you want – and the website scene that produces it.

Overall, for someone who is not a web designer, nor the developer, in any way, canva provides me with great equipment to publish live and functioning website. And a beautiful, on it. After using other design tools like Adobe Express, Canva’s website builder is more efficient and lets I publish a website directly from Canva.
The Canva code will change the basic web design for canva users in the future, but right now, it is a bit disappointing that you cannot edit the design by traditional or coded methods. I will still choose Canva for my web design use for future projects, though.
