Jason Calacanis will pay you $25,000 if you can find an authentic Theranos device
At CES on Tuesday, All-In podcast host and investor Jason Calacanis discussed the impact of AI on the workforce with McKinsey’s Bob Sternfels and General Catalyst’s Hemant Taneja. As the three talked, I became a little spaced out if I’m honest (it’s after hours here on the East Coast).
Then Calakanis pulled out a box of old gadgets to show and tell. They caught my attention when they showed off their miniature replica of the Theranos device — it looked a lot like the MiniLab, a product whose founder Elizabeth Holmes unveiled in 2016 as a last-ditch effort to convince the world that her technology worked (it didn’t).

“If someone can get it to me, I’ll pay $10,000 or maybe $25,000,” Calacanis said, holding up his replica.
Theranos never actually sold its medical devices to everyday consumers, so Calacanis may be out of luck — but Holmes Did Once the technology is demonstrated at a conference, there must be a minilab somewhere? I can’t match Calakanis’ offer, but I’ll throw in an extra $20 bill to sweeten the deal. happy hunting!
