The memory feature of Chatgpt is now better and is able to refer to the previous interaction for free accounts.
For this in an update Assistant documentOpenai quietly confirmed that it rolled out a new version of memory which better remembers and refers to your previous conversation.
This facility was available to the earlier paid customers, but it is rolling for everyone today.
“On June 03, 2025, we are starting rolling memory reforms to log into free users,” Openai has written in a support document.
With the new memory feature, the chatgpt is capable of saving conversations for a longer period.
For example, if you have instructed Chatgpt to remember that they do not use EM dash and saved it in memory, then it is likely that AI will refer to that conversation in all its new or future conversations.
The company said, “In addition to the saved memories earlier, the chat has now referred to its recent conversations to fulfill the reactions that feel more relevant and sewn for you,” the company said.
However, Bleepingcomputer noticed that there would be some limitations despite the upgrade to the memory feature of the Chatgpt -free version.
Free user memory upgrades are gaining access to a mild version, which only provides short -term continuity in conversation.
On the other hand, if you pay $ 20 for Chatgpt Plus or $ 200 for Chatgpt Pro, you will get access to a more powerful memory that refers to the old messages.
While these reforms are good, some of you may not like to refer to your previous conversation.

If you do not like to remember everything from your conversation, open the Chatgpt settings and close the memory or remove specific memories that you think should not be stored.

You can also use chatgpt “temporary chat” feature, which is similar to using Chrome in Incoginto mode.
