Months after enabling intensive research in its expensive $ 200 Chatgpt Pro Plan, Openai is now rolling the feature for all users. Anyone can now use a light version of deep research for free.
This new version of deep research sits somewhere between a regular chatgpt discovery and a Chatgpt pro-style in-depth report. These discoveries usually take about five to ten minutes, and give you a report that is one page or two long. In my experience, its report is practical, two-the-point and well research.
How new “lightweight” chat works deep research
Deep Research is different from a regular chatgpt search. Here, Chatgpt will use all its resources, such as its logic model, its thinking ability, its online discovery integration, and a detailed response will bring all this together.
Deep Research will first ask you some clear questions about your prompt, and then start your work. A single deep research query can take anywhere between 5-30 minutes, depending on how complicated you are of a question. The complete-sanskrit of deep research tools can conduct complex and detailed research for you on complex science and mathematics problems. These questions usually take about 30 minutes, and then deeply, produce multipage reports.
The new lightweight version is more casual than that. You can use it to do research on the part you want to invest, products you want to buy, or understand a new subject. The results take about five to ten minutes, and the reports are small and up to the point. But they will still be heavy citrus, so you can check the link to confirm that chatgpt is not hallucinations.
But despite being technically available to all, access to Chatgpt is quite limited, and it is based on the plan you are using.
-
Free scheme: You will find five light deep research questions per month.
-
Plus and team plan: The plan of $ 20 per month gives you an additional 15 using ten queries and light versions in a month with a full -fledged research tool.
-
Furore: The plan of $ 200 per month comes with 125 complete deep research questions per month, and additional 125 using a light version.
All boundaries reset every 30 days, and the count starts the day you start using the deep research feature.
How to use deep research in chat
After opening the CHATGPT website, click on the Deep Research button and enter your prompt. The more details you can provide, the better. To add more reference, you can attach images, documents or spreadsheets.

After entering your prompt, you will come back to you with questions that clarify the chatgate. These questions are not mandatory to answer, but they will help specify your report. If you want a more general report, you can just say something like “I don’t know, do your best”, and the chatgip will begin that it is the best way to move forward.

When research starts, you will see a progress bar in chat. You are free to leave the chat and come back later, as it will take time. In my test using a light -free version, the Quarries still took between four to eight minutes, even for simple questions.
You can click on the progress bar to reveal the sidebar. This is the place where you will look at the steps that the chatgate is passing to respond to your query. Depending on your question, the CHATGPT can look at the articles, PDF, websites of scholars, and then use its thinking model when all the information collides.

Once the report is ready, you will see it in your own special box. You can click on the share button to see the preview window. Here, you can click on the share link to generate a link to the report. However, unlike Google Gemini, you cannot export the report as PDF (or other format).

How to chat deep research can help you
I conducted some tests with deep research tools on the free plan, and I was impressed. The reports of Chatgpt are brief and direct. Comparatively, Google Gemini’s report unnecessarily feels verbose. It is also better to highlight the correct link in the Chatgpt text, something that Gemini hides behind a menu.
I asked chat Create a starting guide for learning handpanAnd it did a good job of compiling Youtube videos, handpan vendors and exercises, all on one page. Next, I asked it Research market spirit for a specific shareAnd this included everything from recent earnings to expert opinion, everything to share the price target.

I then used it for something, which I could not help with standard gogling, which was to find a part number for one Spare wheel screw hook for my Volkswagen PoloNot to open the owner’s manual or go to the dealership, I asked for help instead.
First of all, I used regular search feat, and it would not just give me an usable answer. However, deep research feature found part number in a few minutes. But it could not find a website located in India (where I am located) that sells this part (although it found many vendors in the US and Europe).
To compare, I ran a query in Gemini. Mithun actually generated a long report, most of which were not really useful. I had to scroll all the way to find the spare part number. This is Google, however, it gave me a link to an Indian site that sells the part. Good.
Overall, I found that the deep research tool of Chatgpt is equivalent to the choice of Gemini and Perplexity, and when it comes to direct language and sourcing, it overtakes them.
He said, the material still originates using a large language model, which has a tendency to have hallucinations and make things. It would be best to check the sources of the report to confirm that everything that the chat has produced is correct.
