Koros Heart Rate Monitor: One minute review
The choros heart rate monitor is a strap-based monitor designed for your upper hand that uses optical tracking techniques to measure blood volume instead of electrocardiographs or ECG, which measures the electrical signals of the heart. While many best heart rate monitor uses ECG, optical sensors are found in the best smartwatch. Which raises the question: Why does the stand-alone of Koros use optical sensor instead of HRM ECG?
The brief answer from the choros is that optical heart rate monitoring works using light glow through your skin to see your blood flow. While the watches can do a proper work on the wrist, there is more blood more blood by hand, causing a dedicated strap – which can be tightly affixed tightly in that high -hand position – more precisely.
Therefore, for your money, you are getting more accurate optical heart rate monitor than smartwatch, yet there is definitely more comfortable wear conditions. Unlike a chest strap, it is a comfortable wear for both men and women of body types and sizes, and you get a decent 38 hours use with its rechargeable battery to close it.
Thanks to Bluetooth connectivity, it can be used with many different devices ranging from smartwatch and phone to bikes and gym machines. There is also a useful wear detection facility which means it can on and connect auto-power. All you have to do is put it on.
There is basic waterproofing for 3atm, but it is more to make sweat and rain-proof-so do not expect that it will be usable for swimming. You will not get connectivity options like ANT+ here, so that some people can be limited in terms of which equipment it can be used.

You can buy Coros HRM directly from Koros Through sites like Heroic,
Price-wise, it is comparable to the garden HRM-Pro, so it corresponds to the rest of its contestants, without either the outstanding value or being very expensive.

Coros Heart Rate Monitor: Design
- Casual to wear
- Easy to fit
- Simple design
The choros heart rate is about the monitor simplicity and thus it is a dodal to wear. Since it is designed to go to your bicep, once you adjust the right size to suit you using Velcro fittings, it is a simple case of moving your hand to pop it up.
The strap material is a combination of polyester fiber, nylon and spandex, which is all equal to a very comfortable experience. But, significantly, it is flexible enough to slip and close with a stretch, but it is very tight that it is very tight or uncomfortable to be very tight.
The total weight on 19G is barely worth noting. When you consider walking with large phones in cases of arm strap and barely notice them, you can imagine how disinterested it feels.
Does it feel more comfortable than the chest strap? In my case the answer was a yes, but it could vary from person to another. I certainly like the fact that it slips easily, and thanks to that auto-vier detection sensor, it will also add quick and easily.
It is designed to fit biceps between 18 and 32 cm. So unless you are very thin or a bodybuilder, it is likely to fit comfortably regardless of the penis. If you are large in the ARM area, there is an option to go to a large version of the lease at the point of purchase, with 24–43 cm biceps.

The sensor setup consists of five LEDs with four photodateters. This combination, right now represents the best optical heart rate sensor from the coros, it should mean that it is quite future-proof, there is no possibility of being taken by more accurate techniques for some time. He said, it will not offer SPO2 measurement, so if you are after O2 features, you may want to see elsewhere.
There is an LED light on the edge of the main unit that serves as a useful communication light. When on the charge it will shine the orange until the battery is filled after two hours, and it then becomes solid green, so that you know that it is good to go.
The charger is a owned magnetic attachment at the end of the USB-A and HRM connection at one end. While it is easy to plug into many different power sources, we prefer more efficient, up-to-date USB-C.
The lease is also washable, where the main unit can slide, making it possible to make fresh looks for a long time.

Koros Heart Rate Monitor: Features
- App is minimum
- Lots of third-party app compatibility
- No swim tracking
The choros heart rate monitor can be added to many devices and works with the app you want to use. But there is a included Koros app that you can use, ideal if you have already found other coros devices such as the Koros Paes Pro.
The choros app is fine to analyze the data, but it will not track you when you are exercising. So you have to use a third-party app like a straw. I opened the Koros app and connected the HRM, and once connected, I can just open a straw, slip on the armband, and it will directly drag into HR data.
I found this heart rate training or zone tracking. Generally, I used the phone to collect the data and then saw only when I was analyzing my effort after coming back and took a bath, so you would need to take your phone to the chest, waist or arm-mounted running case.

It is also worth noting that if you already have a smartwatch and just want to add a more accurate heart rate tracker than the underlying optical option, it can also connect to your smartwatch. And yes, it proved to be more accurate than the wrist-based options during our test, so it can be a viable option for chest strap.
App is the only way to know an accurate solution of HRM’s battery life. Certainly the light on the side can give you a thick guidance, but it is unlikely to serve you before a run or ride where you want to assure that you have enough juice to go at a distance. A push notification would also be helpful when connected.
It is worth noting that it can transmit heart rate up to three devices simultaneously. So you can connect your watch and phone to your bike computer at the same time, for example. I have not tested this feature yet, but it is good that the option should be required.

Koros Heart Rate Monitor: Performance
- Good accuracy
- easy to use
- very comfortable
Here is one of the most important things to mention. It is more comfortable to wear than the chest strap, while almost equal level accuracy is offered. It is easy to slip on, it is less noticeable to wear and can also be hidden to avoid knock – with the option to slide it under your sleeve.
While the heart rate monitor worn with a wrist in a clock can be useful, wearing it on your bicep is so accurate. As mentioned that it is a better place, with more blood, for clear readings. But it is more to the hand with less movement while walking and collides with less while riding a bike. All this that connects to offer great levels of accuracy in sports while living comfortably.
Where it falls down in the chest strap, the battery is life. It is civilized, killing the real world’s use close to 38 hours, but still does not compare one or two years of battery power of some chest straps.

In one run (image above), with an initial hill climb, which I use to defeat any opportunity of average accuracy, I attended some issues. In addition to the ARM-based Koros HRM linked to my phone, I had a competitive chest lease. On the climb of the hill, my heart quickly jumped to 170 and kept the chest strap up. However, the coros strap lags behind, reading 155. It caught, but was a few seconds behind.
After that, as the distance became long and they came into the average game, it came even closer, but I knew about that early blip.
So when you can see the initial discrepancy, both HRMs usually climb on the chest and show the same readings with the same maximum and average heart rate data. This was definitely more accurate than the optical heart rate sensor worn from a wrist, which is capable of offering.

How I tested
I used Coros HRM for a few weeks to test. I did mainly during running and cycling and also mixed with hills and sprints to get a series of results. I also used an optical armband wearing a wrist, a chest strap and at one point. I used it with some different apps to use, how to use, share and analyze data.
