Microsoft has upgraded its AI-powered CoPilot digital assistant to prepare Office documents and connect to Outlook and Gmail email accounts, as well as third-party services like Google Calendar and Google Drive.
These changes are now rolling out to all Insider channels through the Microsoft Store on systems where Copilot on Windows has been updated to version 1.25095.161.0 and higher.
Once the rollout reaches your system, you’ll be able to link Copilot to your Google and Microsoft online services and ask it to search and summarize information from your email, files, and calendars.
As Microsoft explained, these connectors are not enabled by default because the feature is opt-in and requires manual configuration of the connection in the Settings of the CoPilot Windows app.
“You can link both Microsoft and third-party accounts to Copilot,” the Microsoft Copilot team said in a statement. thursday blog post,
“This feature is opt-in. Access can be provided by opening the Settings page in the CoPilot Windows app, scrolling down to the Connectors section, and enabling OneDrive, Outlook, Google Drive, Gmail, Google Calendar, or Google Contacts.”
CoPilot can now also create and export Office documents from your quick replies, containing replies up to 600 characters, including an export button by default to save the text as a Word, PowerPoint, Excel or PDF file.
“Simply ask Copilot, ‘Export this text to a Word document’ or ‘Create an Excel file from this table,’ and Copilot will create the file for you,” Microsoft said. “With just a gesture, you can instantly transform ideas, notes and data into shareable and editable documents without the need for any additional steps or tools.”
This update is being rolled out gradually to Insiders around the world, and not everyone enrolled in the Windows Insider Program will get these new features immediately.
Microsoft also asked for feedback from testers, which can be shared by clicking the profile icon within the Copilot app and selecting “Give Feedback.”
Last month, Redmond also began rolling out content-aware CoPilot chat on Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and OneNote to paying Microsoft 365 business customers, as well as a gaming CoPilot “personal gaming sidekick” on Windows 11 PCs for users 18 years of age or older.
